Crap guitar + Great Amp = pretty good.

Epic guitar with crap amp = crap

Nothing surprising here. Is it any worse than, or the same as any other Chinese entry level from Jackson, Schecter, Desi, etc? Nope...or conversely - it is just as good as. And budget is pretty good these days.

I'll say that it needed a pickup for certain. The stock ones were terrible.

I also swapped tuners last night to real Grovers and that helped immensely as well.

Here is where it stands as of last night:

Nearly finished, I ordered a "correct" truss cover from Gibson and it will be complete.

Swapped the truss cover with. Authentic Gibson cover and she is Finally complete.

Yes, huge improvement with these Grovers. It holds tune very well now.

I thought the inlays looked funny. Gibson doesn't use mother of toilet seat. Ali Express explains it. Nice price and if it plays in tune, bonus points. LOOKS really nice for what it is.

Gibson only uses MOP for the block inlay on the Customs, and a handful of others, but the Standard has simple acrylic inlays. Very standard MoT.
