Re: Buy a Gibson, become a criminal: only in America...
I wear an aluminium helmet so that MLB can't scan my brain.
But many baseball bats are made from aluminum; it totally cancels out the benefits of the helmet. Because they're wired out of phase.
MLB uses wooden bats, NO ALUMINUM. Maybe Louisville Slugger will be raided next.
OTOH, if the NCAA starts brain scanning:dot:
However, statistically most US citizens can´t even name all 50 states, many don´t even know which ones they share borders with...
Waitaminute:dot: I thought there were 57:?::scratchch
The amount of distrust and fear that Americans have for the government that they elect democratically every few years is comical. It's a democracy. Why all the belly achin' and "end of the US as we know it" hyperbole? If America really doesn't like someone in office, they'll be voted out in a few years.
:haha: I used to believe that, too. We had a governor who was elected four different times. He was a known crook (in fact he recently was released from a federal penitentiary. If he can get pardoned (there actually is a webpage soliciting signatures for requesting a presidential pardon), he could run again
and he'd win. The amazing thing is I can't find anyone who admits to ever voting for him.
After the 2000 election this joke was circulated:
Because of an anticipated record high turnout for the election, Florida officials asked to borrow additional voting machines from Louisiana. The request was granted because Louisiana had been upgrading voting machines and had the extra equipment.
When the voting was in, there were 2,998,641 votes for Bush, 2,984,887 votes for Gore, and 5,000,000 votes for Edwin Edwards.
Even a cursory understanding of social psychology refutes the notion of an informed electorate choosing adequate representation. Read any of the research on what people really look for when they choose a candidate.:saeek:
Well, that is interesting. Sounds to me like this "Act" needs to be clearly defined before it is applied one day longer against anyone.
We can't have vague laws like that because it's open to interpretation, where the law should be explicit in language and in detail.
:haha: Of course we can. Most lawmakers are lawyers. Lawyers like ambiguous laws with loopholes.:eyecrazy:
So where is the constitution when Gibson is being shut down without due process?
They are being punished before they have even been proven guilty. I find the constitution is all well and good but the government seems to forget about it whenever it suits them.
I am sure it make you feel all warm inside to think you are protected but the fact of it is, the government can rip those "rights" away from you any time they feel like it and do it to people all the time.
Precisely the problem. Gibson was shut down, not just raided. If they are guilty, they deserve to suffer the consequences. AFTER THEY ARE PROVEN GUILTY.
Electoral fraud is always a risk with any voting system.
Of course it is. Some are more prone than others. Are you aware that many states do not (and apparently cannot) require photo ID for voting? NOLA and Chicago can't close the polls until all the cemeteries are counted.
:yeah:, but you're SMOOTH!
