Yes David, sadly - and I've made this point many times - there is no other musician more inclined to seek a solution to a problem by buying a magic gimmick in preference to developing skill and knowledge than a guitarist. They invest hundreds in expensive strobe tuners rather than learn to use their ears and a tuning fork. Spend hard earned money on roller nuts and locking tuners rather then simply get their guitars set up or learn the simple skills involved in restringing.
It's very frustrating for me because I am fighting what feels like a losing battle for honesty, directness and simple knowledge and understanding against a rising tide of rampant commercial exploitation of ignorance, but more often than not the people I am trying to help are the ones who attack me. I always remember, after placing a post in an alt.guitar forum, highlighting all the logical fallacies in the Feiten system, getting a response to the effect of "f*ck off with your long winded mumbo-jumbo, Buzz is a genius, who the f*ck are you..."
Well, someone with qualifications in maths, physics, psychology. engineering...
There is so much bad science in the musical instrument industry, and so much "kidology"...:banghead:
David, are you anywhere near me? If so, I would gladly take time out to show you how to tune and intonate your guitar without spending hundreds or having any modifications done.
