Can anyone tell me about Svetlana tubes?

Re: Can anyone tell me about Svetlana tubes?

Do you need to retube your new amp? Or is it just that thing I always do when I get something new of, "How can I make this even better?" The interesting thing about Boogies--and I'm not sure this is true of all their amps--is that you don't get to bias them. And there can be a good deal of variance in feel based on how the power section is biased. I think Randy Smith knows what he's doing, but you don't get to tweak it yourself and say, "Okay, makes sense that it's set that way." Anyways, if it's idle speculation about a particular power tube brand, I'm not sure. But start talking about new production preamp tubes, and I won't shut up.

I guess it is just curiosity and wondering if I should replace them. The guy I got it from said the tubes seemed fine but they a few years old. They are just groove tubes. I am taking the amp to my tech tomorrow and I am going to have him clean it up. I already noticed a scratchy pot... nothing bad, but it can't hurt to have the thing given a once over. If my tech tells me he recommends new tubes I'll probably get more serious about it.
