Canadian Marshall JCM 800 (2210)

I finally got a digital camera and was finally able to take pics of my rare made for Canada JCM 800 2210 (from '87) with matching made for Canada 8 ohm 4x12 JCM 800 lead 1960 cab (with 8 ohm G12T-75 speakers)..The speakers are date coded Nov. 11th 1985.

The overall tone on the boost channel with gain at full tilt is very similar to Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" album without any pedal. She's quite loud and monstrous to say the least!!

I know a lot of people are unaware of the differences of the Canadian models, so here are a few basic differences (all due to strict Canadian Electrical Standards):

Point to point pot and input wiring, metal toggle switches on the 2203 and 2204 (like earlier JMP's) and one metal toggle/one rocker for the stanby on the 2205/2210 models, EL34s as stock tubes instead of the US's 6550s, 2 extra fuses compared to US or UK models, and no 16 ohm tap. These are rare, I read that US models outnumbered canadians by 10 to 1. All cabs made for Canadian export were 8 ohms instead of the standard 16 ohms for US & UK.

Here are a bunch of pics from all angles, note the differences on the front and back:

That's a beauty Krall. We certainly don't see the Canadian toggle switch much in the USA.

That chassis is a MILE long. :)

Tell you what..I live in Canada, and this one is the ONLY Canadian 2210 i've ever seen in person and i'm lucky enough to own it! They are rare over here too! The 2203 and 2204 models with double toggles are much more common, in fact i've seen 3 of them just this month.

Re: Canadian Marshall JCM 800 (2210)

The Canadian versions have the lay-down PT's and are indeed quite rare.... Congrats from a fellow 2210 (x3) owner!

Re: Canadian Marshall JCM 800 (2210)

very nice!!!! I have a Canadian early 80's 2204.... I have my eyes open for a Canadian 8ohm 4x12.... Right now the only 8 ohm cab i have is a 1x12 Marshall.... I tried to buy a 2x12 800 series cab from a pawn shop but he would not sell it to me unless i bought the Valvestate head some sold him as well.....

Point to point pot and input wiring...

I'm confused - your post says point-to-point, but the photos show pots and input jack both on the PC board.

Whatever, cool amp. I'm partial to the single-channel versions myself, but I love JCM800s.

Yeah, I didn't specify that the point-to-point applies to the Canadian single channel 2203 and 2204 models...A local has an '89 Canadian 2204 and it still has the vertical inputs and point-to point (while the US/UK versions switched over to horizontal and hooked up to the pc board by '85 I think)

Re: Canadian Marshall JCM 800 (2210)

That is pretty sweet. I haven't fired my 2210 up since I moved, I might have to hook it up tonight

Re: Canadian Marshall JCM 800 (2210)

The 2210 has so many options in it - for an early 80s amp like my '84 2210 its crazy. You can dime the gain and volume on the boost channel and get a total metal sound or you can crank the master and gain and then control the volume using the channel volume and the tone is a nice mix of pre and power amp. The latter is my tone. Period. LP into 2210 cranked up through a bogner 4x12 w/ vintage 30s. It's badass.

I'm a JCM800 2210 owner too and love mine:

Mine's currently in the shop being checked over after it went weird on me at practise, but hope to get it up and running again soon :D
