so im tired of hauling so much weight for pa.

has anyone used any of the newer carvin dcm series power amps? im thinking of getting the dcm2004l for the monitors. we run up to four mixes so it would be a perfect solution for not a ton of cash.

basically the amp is 4 x 300w @ 8ohms or 4 x 500w @ 4 ohms which is enough power for less than $600 shipped and it only weighs 10 lbs or something like that. class d obviously

thoughts? suggestions? rude gestures or comments?

Re: carvin power amps

I own one (dcm 2000) and my last band used it for asymmetric driving of subs and monitors and it was excellent ... We also used it bridged on occaision and it was fine in that role too ... Gotta love light weight and reasonable cost ... Highly recommend

Re: carvin power amps

I don't own any myself, but I have to say that the systems that I've heard them used for sounded loud and clear. I think they're a pretty good deal myself, but from what I hear, they're not a great re-sell.

Re: carvin power amps

I have a DCM 1500, and it's been a workhorse for years. One time, a stupid bandmate left it on without speakers attached, and blew it up. I sent it to Carvin even though it was out of warranty and they fixed it and paid to ship it back to me in a new box.
They have great customer service.
