We don't really get Schecters over here so I can't really comment on them, although I've heard nothing but good things about them from my American buddies.
The Yamaha AES (? not sure if that is the right range?) are brilliant though. I think they're a bit ugly to be honest but you can't have it all I guess.
I saw Coheed and Cambria about a year ago and they just used Gibsons the whole time. Les Pauls and Explorers. If you're after a similiar sound I'd recommend going down the tune-a-matic route for the bridge. If you're interested in this, post back and I'll tell you everything I know about it. Not all that much
