chorus but which one ?

Re: chorus but which one ?

I have to admit I've been very impressed with the flexibility of TC Electronics TonePrint line, and their sound quality. I'm sure you could build your own TonePrint that would do exactly what you wanted

Yeah, they got it goin on.

Re: chorus but which one ?

I realized tonight at practice that I need an Intensity control on my Phase 90.

I know, right?
- I used to run my Small Stone into the other channel of my amp, so I could mix it in with the dry signal.
I liked to use more mids, & less bass & treble, on the phased channel, than on my clean channel.
All dripping with reverb and echo of course..

Re: chorus but which one ?

And, IMO, EVERY Chorus needs:

Depth/RAte - duh

But ALSO;

Delay
High cut/boost

Any chorus with those four controls will give you almost any chorus sound you want.

Re: chorus but which one ?

Phase 90 w/ Intensity is a Phase 100

I was under the impression that:
Phase 45 - 2 Stage
Phase 90 - 4 Stage
Phase 100 - 12 Stage

Wil a Phase 100 go more subtle than an EVH in script mode?

I have a Phase 45 that sounds amazing but no LED, no power socket and finicky switch makes it a whole lot less pedalboard friendly than the EVH. (The script mode gets it almost there, just wish there was a blend)

Back on topic, it's amazing all the sounds available from chorus pedals. I poo-pooed chorus for a long time because I associated it with that 80's slick sheen, but on the other end of the spectrum there are some really cool textural and swirling sounds available!

Re: chorus but which one ?

I have owned chorus pedals in alphabetical order from Boss to TC Electronic. I finally ended up with (gasp) a Hardwire USA made chorus. On a blind sound test it was just as good as any of the other I owned at the time. Runners up in order
1. TCE SCF+
2. Boss CE-5
3. MXR Analog Chorus (previously known as the Zakk Wylde chorus pedal).

Re: chorus but which one ?

if you are dissing/poo-pooing/whatever means bad mouthing the Boss SC-1 and haven't tried it….may want to rethink that attitude.

At the time of this writing, there is yet to be any such thing as a BOSS SC-1.

There is the SD-1 Distortion, SG-1 Slow Gear (attack enveloping thingy) and any number of CE- and CH- models. The BOSS Super Chorus is named CE-5. (I have the bass version somewhere in a BCB-3.)

Re: chorus but which one ?

Lots of good suggestions here - Boss, mxr, providence, Tc electronic. I think you could get a great sound with any of those. I don't pay much attention to analog vs digital though I ended up having a bit of both on my current board. The chorus that I've used since early 2011 and hasn't been mentioned previously here is the Strymon Ola Chorus. It's got a nice straight chorus sound, tri-chorus (think 80's studio/session guitarists - Lukather, Landau, Huff) and an absolutely killer vibrato. You can run it mono or stereo, and it has knobs and switches right on the front which is the part I like. I have a fulltone mini deja vibe that has a nice vibrato setting that can be sort of like a chorus depending on how you set it up. The Strymon is a digital pedal with "premium analog ins/outs" and the Fulltone is analog if my memory is correct.

Re: chorus but which one ?

i have received the LIQUid chorus (visual sound became TRUE TONe )
my quest stops here ! (or Anadime providence chorus maybe but i will keep the liquid chorus )

my pedal has 4 knobs so you can have a lot of sounds because there are speed, width, delay time ! and depth
it's in stereo too
the sound is great
i thought that this pedal would have a sound with more trebles but you can set up the amp
it's a pedal with a lot of good reviews and comments

the footswitch will never be damaged : it's a special footwitch
read this short manual
http://www.samash.com/wcsstore/SamA...nd/VV2LCXXXX/VS Manual Liquid Chorus COMP.pdf
this pedal has a good buffer and like they said, it's better than true bypass
it respects the sound of my guitar and with gain, it really rocks

bucket brigade is important
every good analog chorus pedal has this
i think it's useful

the Liquid chorus makes some fat chorus tones even with distorsion when digital units i have
made just a little sound which did not respect the sound of my guitar
with the liquid chorus : you have the big chorus sound +respect ! :))
a good pedal will sound good even with gain and the sound will not be above the gain but
just gain+chorus because if you have not that, the sound of the disto will be deleted and it's not good
you will hear just the chorus

The OLA is surely great : i don't have multi chorus
but no problem

Hahahaha. No. Seriously, that can in no way be true. As tough as it can be, it WILL break down one day.

The Super Chorus is the CH-1; the CE5 is the Chorus Ensemble
