I have a Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive (v.1) pedal I bought new a year or so ago and it sounds great.
Metal box, true bypass, actually can make a reasonable claim to being "transparent" overdrive...
If you can find a v.1 TO for a reasonable price now, buy it.
That one is definitely the gem in the line.
Not surprising, since it's a Timmy with cheaper components.
Yeah search Danelectro Transparent OD over at TGP and you'll come up with all kinds of hits from Paul C (the Timmy Creator) about Dano totally ripping off his design.

I'll admit... I bought it because I'd read about that, was curious, and wanted to grab one before they stopped making them as a result.
I struggled briefly with the notion that my purchasing the pedal was unfair to Paul C because it was supposedly a rip-off of his work, but it occurred to me that there was no way in hell I would ever spend 300 bucks and wait 3 years (or however long) for an OD pedal... I was never a potential customer anyway...
As it is, it's a nice-sounding pedal that sits unused in my closet with the rest of them.
jeez, it's like a dude can't even talk completely out of his ass around here...
Does anyone know why they put out newer versions?
