Does your guitar have a name?

It's the only one I would name. It's been there in good times and bad. It's purred and yelled. I've been listening to what it has to say much more often since I changed the tuners, guard, and played with the pickups. It's like it used to have a speech impediment, and now it speaks loud and clear. we're going on 6 years. feels like 60. don't know what to call it, but it's safe to say this is one of the guitars I most love, even though it's just a mexican Standard.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

"the tele deluxe" and "warmoth strat" haha

i'm not much for naming my guitars. when i finish warmoth strat #2 i might have to name it "kamikaze" since it'll basically be a george lynch replica. don't know if that really counts as a given name though, or more like just a general idea behind the guitar...

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

Mine all have names. My nocaster is named Debbie after Debbie Harry (it's Blonde and Ms Harry and I share a birthday) My Godin is named Lotte after Lotte Lenya because it sounds a bit like her and I read Robert Godin's name on the liner notes of the album (it turns out the Robert Godin who played with Lenya was an alto sax player not the founder of Godin guitars) My Duo-Sonic is named Patti after Patti Smith who also plays one and Peppermint Patty from 'Peanuts' which is why the Acoustic is named Marci. My bass is named Val after Val Iam the bass player with Pist.on. My Banjo, 12string and other bass don't have names.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

I didn't use to, but for some reason my wife just can't remember which guitar is which from the names on the headstock or style.
Thus my Tokai LP is now cherry (cos it's a cherry sunburst)
My Ibanez SA is slinky (cos it's, well, slinky)
My Ibanez bass is the super slink (cos it's even more slinky)
But the Takamine acoustic is just the acoustic as there's only the one acoustic downstairs (the old hohner I use for camping trips lives in the loft with the camping gear).

Does your guitar have a name?

Yeah- Blondie, Dottie, Sweet Sonya, and Excalibur!

I haven't named all my guitars, but those 4 are always referred to as such.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

My amp is named, too. This Marshall is the "Doki-Doki Dynamo Mk IV."
Doki-doki is japanese onomatopoeia for the sound one's heart makes when it's pounding, esp. when one is in love.
Mk. I was the blackheart, Mk. II was a Fender SCXD, and III was the Night Train.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

I'm not really in for naming the fiddles. I go for the shortest word or phrase that easily makes it clear which one I'm talking about. I might think of the RG520 covered in butterfly stickers and call it "Butterfly", but that's about as far as it goes.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

yep. the SG is "super rad stufff" and the mockingbird is "the pretty one" because it's my only guitar i haven't tried to 'modify' visually:lmao:

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

They are named Kelly, Telly and Dinky - Can you guess what my guitars are?

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

The Scabb
Sarah
Rosilita
Maggie Mahgret
Brownie
Blue

L'il Red Bean
Rev. Billy

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

^Nice Names! Some of 'em have me pretty curious...post em up....I'm dyin to see "The Scabb" LOL

I'm part of the no-name contingent....Anything I come with sounds contrived or cheezy.....so for now it remains "the blue one" etc.....

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

I name all of my guitars. They are all feminine names because it would be gay to love something masculine as much as I love my guitars.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

Names? Not really. I call the new one "Sweet Dee" if anyone asks. I hope you all know where that name is from :D

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

Absolutely. It makes it a lot easier, too, in the studio if I just say, "I'll use ____ for this."

My '79 SG is "Gretchen", the '75 SG is "Rhiannon", the '76 LPC is "Lizzie", the '84 V is "Sybil", the '81 Washburn Falcon is "Ugly Washboard", the '80 Dean Z is "Dean", the '02 ES-135 is "Esther B", the '91 Strat is "Stupid Strat", the '97 Tele is "Bastardcaster", the '98 Tele is "Pastorcaster", the gut-string is "Gertrude", the '69 Rick 4001 is "Ricky", the 78 J-Bass is "J-Bass", the '84 Ovation Balladeer 12 is "Blondie", the '05 Celebrity 12 is "Sadie", the '06 Balladeer 12 is "Lorraine", the '90 Celebrity 6 string is "Bird". I think that's all of them...
