Down to two now

Re: Down to two now

As for acquiring a multitude of guitars (such as I wound up doing, I'm at... Seven electrics?) I do not regret even one; I'm at a stage where I consider myself "developing" as a guitarist, and each one caused me to re-evaluate my playing/style...

But more important, they encouraged me to play in general and practice. It's the "gear tax" I pay for staying excited as a player, especially while I have no band/people to even casually play along with.)

Re: Down to two now

"gear tax" haha nice one!
For me more guitars mean more maintenance, more tweaking, more troubles, more therapy from my every day work. And therapy costs, but way less than joining some yoga classes.

Re: Down to two now

Good for you!! I sometimes wonder if I feel more guilt than enjoyment out of the number of guits I have. I often try to determine what one Id keep if I cleaned house. But its almost like getting rid of my children.. It would be somewhat liberating to do so. Even if I could get down (should) to one, Id have a Terrible time deciding what one to keep. Trem? Hardtail? But, I know if I did, I would prolly be a better player. Cuz Ive spent so much time upgrading all of them, and jumping back and forth doesnt allow me to fully learn the nuances of the particular guitar..

Re: Down to two now

Because I want a Strat....but I am not going to get one more CS for this....
It has a different vibrato, but the neckpocket is compatible with Fender style necks, so I'll see if I can dig out some big maple neck somewhere.

I just did a Strat build and used an Allparts SMO-FAT neck which I found on Ebay for $100!
I love it and won't play anything else now, I played a few Fenders, both Mexi and American last week at GC
and I'm totally satisfied with mine!

Reverse headstock? I am glad to see that there is still a little bit of the 80s left in you :)

Re: Down to two now

My son has inherited two of mine. My strat last year when he started to get serious, and he's getting my re-wired/modded Les Paul Classic for his Bday tonite.

I guess I'm down to two as well, not including an acoustic which I never touch (too tough to play with my hand issues).

I'm fine with it. I find it better to have one main squeeze and get to be "one" with it. Then have something different toned and has a different feel that is a diversion for a couple days. When I have more than a few, I spend too much time going back and forth and after awhile get burned out on all of them.

Re: Down to two now

Aside from my LP and my classical, I've got both major types of guitars -- Strats and superstrats.

Re: Down to two now

I'm down to 2 myself. ESP Eclipse and a Richie Kotzen Tele. I'll probably get a strat-style guitar at some point to fill out that niche but I feel like i'm good with what I have on that front. If anything I tend to want to throw my money at amps these days.

I got rid of my floyds a long time ago and i'll never own another. I just have no patience for the string changes/setups on those things.
