"dream guitar" or self delusion?

Re: "dream guitar" or self delusion?

You guys rule, thanks so much
If I get warmoth body and use that, that saves the frustration of stripping a poly finish, and I'll get MUCH better pieces of wood I'm sure. And then I can get it put together WELL. I love Squier for putting out something that I could afford but whoever attached my pickguard was drunk, screws at like a 40 degree angle , screwing through to the dang output jack cavity. Sheesh. So if I could have the guitar be any way I wanted yeah I think I can put together something better the real thing with some patience.

And that Hyundai color looks pretty legit, i hadn't thought of doing a decal for the stripe, I was thinking I was gonna try to do it with tape ad white paint.
I am worried that if I play the thing the decal might not hold up over a long time? Dunno?

I'm excited cuz yes if I do this right this will be way better than dropping $1100 on whats basically a $700 guitar, for the real thing I mean.

Motorcycle companies and cars back in the day used to spray clear over the decal.

If I recall correctly the process was:

Primer
Basecoat
1-2 passes with clear
wet sand carefully with high grit paper(above 1,000) where you want the decal
let it dry well and wipe it down
apply your decal in the desired location
Lightly sand the edges of the decal until the edge fades enough to clear over it
spray heavy amounts of clear over it

It pretty much puts it under a sheet of glass if you manage to do it correctly. Have you seen firebird hoods? same concept.
