You can do that? Please tell, I'm using Cakewalk Guitar Tracks pro, and have a Ratt backing track that's downtuned to Eb that I'd like to uptune to E.

Yours is awesome as well JammerMatt, you've got an awesome tone there! Did you use the Flextone to record it? That's the tone I've been looking for

Thanks buddy. Yes, I used the Flextone IIXL, direct XLR outs into my standard run of the mill Soundblaster card. It sounds differently than when running through the speakers, which I prefer the speaker tone as it is thicker.

I used a TS9 tubescreamer, with all settings at 12:00 (I'm a simple creature), used the Brit Hi Gain setting on the amp, with about drive at 12:00, and B/M/T at about 9/8/7 -ish. There's a little bit of delay in there, too.

I tried to cop a lead on this one last night..weird goings on....I used krystal sound engine..cause it's free and I'm a cheap bastard when it comes to computer software..heheh..

anyway, I converted it into a wav file, imported it into krystal..was all ready to put my ripped off lynch lead in there...and the oddest thing happened....the tempo of the backing track was the same, but it was at least a whole step HIGHER in pitch...WTF?!?!? it sounded like the chipmunk's version of mr. scary....

needless to say, I was pissed

That is strange. If you are in a pinch, you could just record the solo only, convert it to an MP3, post it on soundclick, where I could download it and plug it into the backing track.

Otherwise, might be time to step up to a Cakewalk or similar product. I really like mine as it's easy as Sunday morning.

Don't fret, there's other opportunities on the horizon. Rumor has it that I've got vermin in my basement, and what comes around goes around... that's what I said.

I hadn't thought of going solo only...I think I'll do that...maybe this weekend!

yeah, I used to have cakewalk..actually still have the disk, but it's an old guitar tracks version..and it was only giving me about 30 mp3 conversion....talk about outer limits weird =) heheh

anywho, once I unload my line 6 stuff and get my other cabinet, I'm sure to have money left over..so I might just have to get that software and a mic pre amp..maybe some fx too...we shall see =)

I'll let you know when I get that solo down!

Dude, that rocked hard! Your two-handed portion was super articulate as was the descending run afterward. As for the little string-skipping part at about 00:15, well I can't get it and have to cheat

hey jammermatt...finally got my solo up on soundclick..

was recorded quickly, and in one take..using my buddy's ibanez...cuz it's standard tuning..not very comfy on it and I'im not all that hot on the pickup..but what can ya do =) and I'm still using that crummy pc mic....

so, whenever you get a chance, please overlay it on top of the backing track and post it for me?

yeah, I'm blatantly ripping off mr. scary..except for the little part after the tapping bit..but hey, I figured why mess with perfection, right? lol..can't get much better than the lead he put down many moons ago =) I'm usually very bad at copping another guy's lead or style, but in this case I couldn't do anything but rip him off..hahah
