Epi G-400 advice

Hi,
I'm looking to sell my Epiphone G-400 SG and need a little advice on the resale value of it. I swapped the stock pick-ups for a different set; an SH-5 Duncan Custom in the bridge and an SH-1/'59 in the neck. It also has strap locks installed, too. I need cash fast (fallen on hard times). Any body have an idea how much I can get for this guitar at a Sam Ash or Guitar Center?

Sam Ash will literally give you nickels and dimes for it. For a guitar like that they usually go half ($200) minus anywhere from $50 to $75. So they'd up giving you about $150 or $125.

They'll ask questions like "how much did you pay for it all together", "where did you get it" and "how much do you want for it" and then they'll make up some bullsh*t about "oh...you could've gotten it cheaper on GuitarTrader" or some crap. Add crappy customer service and associates that treat you like a child. I dunno, it's more difficult than buying a car. Go to a pawn shop and try to get at least $200 out of them. Better there than anywhere else.

A local music store may be able to do a consignment. Of course they get a cut of the sale, but if it's not that much it would be better than going the guitar center or sam ash route.

Go eBay. I tried to sell my Epi G-400 to guitar center. It had a dimebucker in the bridge, a Jazz in the neck, and Jimmy Page wiring. They offered my $150. Plus it was a lefty.

i got mine for $199 out the door used about a year and half ago and my friend who is the manager told me they gave the previous owner $90 for it.

If you do trade something in at guitar center see if they will go down to a little above cost on something new you want and put the $75->$125 you get towards that something new...

my best friend traded in a samick valley arts design strat and they gave him $100 for it. He then talked them into about $250 worth of stuff at cost bought with the $100. he paid $200 for the strat used. not a bad ending for him.

the strat sold a week later for $250...win win for both sides?

I only trade stuff to GC given my buddy gets the ok from his boss to give me soemthing new at a higher discount...

Note:
swap in the old pickups...GC doesnt give more money for premium pickups and mods...

if you want quick and fair money put it on ebay...
