Fathers day pickup swap.

Just got done putting a 490t in my SG400. I got the pickup a couple months ago from a forum bro to put in my red Strat project, but it wasn't right for that guitar.

Such a huge improvement over the bland stock pickup. A whole 'nother beast now. It has that true, full sounding snarly bite its been missing.

Ill try to get some clips up soon.







She needed a good cleaning as well, and the frets were quite grimey. I found my steel wool, but couldn't find any painters tape, and this was actually easier and quicker. I know stewmac makes a tool for this. Well, now so do I.

I've never tried a 490T, but I did have a 500T in my G400 for a short while and then went to an Iommi ultimately. I should have kept that one around, I liked messing around on that 24-3/4". Mine was Cherry, and I know this sounds lame, but if it was ebony like yours I would have kept it.

I like the cherry ones, even faded's.

There's so much black on this, I'm trying to think of something to do to make it a little different. Maybe a different pickguard or something.

Forgot to mention this 490t has an A5 magnet.

I had a 490T in my Howard Roberts Fusion, but I didn't like that pickup (and eventually sold the guitar). I think it might work just fine in an SG, though.

nice. i did a swap this weekend too. I put my Pearly Gates set into my best Les Paul and it sounds divine. I then put my Air Zone Air Norton set into an Epiphone LP and now I got a versatile guitar. Burstbucker Pros are shelved. lol
