First Song Of The Year Recorded - An Acoustic Intro

JOLLY

Man, I bet I've had this little chord progression in my head probably since around 1998 or so. I was in a band back then, and I still did nothing with it. I guess because I was playing bass. Anyways, it's always been in my head, I've just never done anything with it.

Well, as usual, I started drinking some whisky tonight, got bored, pulled out the acoustic, and decided to record. Now mind you, I probably haven't even played the chord progression in years. Well, at least since I had my acoustic out last, and that's probably been a couple of years or so.

As stated, I've had the main thing in my mind for years, but once I recorded it, the whisky started hitting me, and it got my creative juices flowing. Booze doesn't make me a better player, but it does help me expand my mind while recording. That's how I came up with the other little lead fill thingies, or whatever you want to call them.

I think I did it all in about 30 minutes or so. I didn't try to over produce it or anything. I stuck a chord in my Taylor 314ce (with it's old ass strings), plugged it directly into my Roland VS-1880, threw a bit of reverb on it, hit record, and said fukk it!! Anyways, I hope you dig it.

Re: First Song Of The Year Recorded - An Acoustic Intro

maybe someone can chip in here, but the eraly "renesance' was from.like, 16-1700 or somthing . Like Michelangelo and stuff. More ancient than modern, but heralded in a new age of science and art.Like Gallileo
I think the music you do here stylesque is from the Enlightenment , to the periods of enlightenment of art and science and reason after the rennescance, and the last phase was probably "Victorian".

I have very small recollection.
But the baroque style I see here was probably early to mid enlightenment, cause there were three phases of enightenment from post rennesance to Victorian I think of the 18th century "Victorian age",but just a guess.I think it's like THIS, like early -to-middle enlihgtenment/baroque?;

I'm glad to hear that you had the drummer sit out on this recording session. :p

My former bandmate has a Taylor electro-acoustic. Plug it in and record.

Do you have a fretless bass guitar? That would fill out the low end. It could even take the melody.

@MM. Queen Victoria reigned from 1837 to 1901. Except for the final twenty five months, that makes the "Victorian" era nineteenth century. It is true that there was a Gothic revival during the Victorian era but it was kinda secondhand - much as Nirvana was compared to The Stooges, The Ramones or the Sex Pistols.

Beautiful, and very good tone for just a direct signal. This is probably my favorite recording I've heard from you. Merry new years!!!

sounded great - would be a good intro for a heavy tune

Thanks, and I agree. It's actually kind of funny. If you click on the soundcloud link in my signature, and then let the song play, it immediately goes into a heavy song of mine. They kind of match up. It tripped me out the other day when that happened.

Very sweet playing and touch, lovely arrangement. I think you just BS people when you tell them you're a bass player :rolleyes:
