Floyd Rose replacement

Re: Floyd Rose replacement

Brother, I'm no help in that department as I'm not really into OFR's... but I thought I'd give you a friendly BUMPITY-BUMP!!!

Re: Floyd Rose replacement

as far as i know. the only thing you will need to do, is drill larger holes for the original floyd posts, but that is it.. and you dont even need to do that, cos it will fit onto the existing posts anyway.

Re: Floyd Rose replacement

The bridge I am buying is a LFR not an OFR. The LFR on my guitar is messed up so I need a new one. So since they're both licensed Floyds it seems like it would be a direct replacement.

P.S. Thanks for the bump.

Re: Floyd Rose replacement

most licensed floyds have the same measurements of the floyd rose tremolos.

go over to www.floydrose.com and check out the templates, do some measurements on your guitar and see if they will fit.

that said, i strongly suggest, that if you intend to buy a new bridge, buy a floyd rose original or pro (both measure 2.91" from middle to middle on the posts, the bridge rests on)
the feel will be a touch different, but i assure you the tone will be much better, and as far my experience with the licenced vs OFR go, the OFR has better control

Re: Floyd Rose replacement

I used the LFR from an LTD M-100 (the old, basswood MIK model) on an old Kramer Focus. I used the Kramer's posts, which originally included an OFR, and everything worked out fine.

Spend the extra couple bucks and get a real Floyd.

Re: Floyd Rose replacement

An OFR goes for $200 on ebay and thats to much. Plus I'd have to cut into my guitar which i dont want to do.

Re: Floyd Rose replacement

Just dig up a Gotoh Floyd....
Best of the lot in these soft metaldays:)

And this is coming from one who dislikes the word...best!

Re: Floyd Rose replacement

as far as i know, the OFR costs $180 from retailers.

it IS worth saving up a little more and getting one. trust me

Re: Floyd Rose replacement

The OFR is still the same as it always has been. Ping is not making them as people have been saying. If you buy an aftermarket OFR, it is still made in Germany. It will drop right into a low profile licensed route. I've done it a few times.

It's also worth saving up for.

The guitarfetish one is non-locking.

The Gotoh units are great too I'll +1 that comment. The reason they are used on high end guitars is because they are still less expensive than an OFR (I know this, I'm a dealer for both) but the OFR is more stable as a result of the finer thread on the pivot posts.
