Hello... new to the group,
Question: anyone here ever route a Floyd just minimal to still have it sit on the body, but to avoid a shimmed neck??? I have a '95 Amer. Stand body that has micro tilt but rather not go that direction... still want it to sit on the body Without the tilt or a shim..
thanks for reading,
Brian

I had a MIM Squier Strat that had this type of recessed cavity. My guess is it was meant to just float like a traditional strat trem. Figure out how low you need it and have the cavity recessed that much. Are the saddles shimmed by chance.

No.....it's a Ping Floyd...and really,I'm not 100% sure what radius it is.....guessing 12"???

Have you considered this bridge? Schaller 3801

Its a FR replacement, I have one and absolutely love it. FR plate/spacing but with roller saddles that are not as tall, thus no need to have a shimmed neck/angled pocket.

I have a custom-made guitar by Will Stinnett that is exactly like that. It's recessed but the wall of the route has been measured so that the Floyd's (big) block rests on its' wall, essentially making it dive only. It also has the added benefit that it doesn't bang on the body when I release it after a deep dive.

Do you like it like that?? I only want to do it so I don't have to use as a shim or that micro tilt......any idea how low to route it?? Maybe 1/4"-3/8"??? Like I said ,my trem is a Ping Floyd Rose....it's as good as any other.....has Floyd Rose computer etched on side,,,,it plays great,,,,,,just want to know about the route!

Yeah,,,,,that's a cool bridge,,,,I kinda dig the fine tuners and lock nut combo tho...on my 01',I have the Brushed Chrome Shallers lockers and American Stand. Stop tail....stays in tune pretty good....my 95 is the one I want the Floyd on.

Cool review!
Am I freaking out,or is that bridge $370?

Looks like a nice piece, but I dunno about "that" nice...
;)

Try this one or this one

I paid the $105 on eBay, and absolutely love this bridge. It is a literal drop in replacement for an original Floyd Rose...like I even used the original studs and posts.

EDIT: I have a bone nut (new neck on the guitar) and have little to zero tuning issues, works great!

The shimming is no big deal.. Slice up a credit card. place the slice in the pocket nearest to the body and you're good to go
