For once, I did a 5 song set. Listen to me play as well as other people!

Re: For once, I did a 5 song set. Listen to me play as well as other people!

Meh...

Just kidding! I didn't watch the entire thing (just not enough time), but I skipped around and saw quite a bit... nice chops, man! Sounds great! :fing2:

What was the event?

It was an open mic. A twist is that everyone seems to come to see me play these same Hendrix tunes. I was playing a real Fender strat here too.. a 1989 Japanese made Real Feel Strat. Has two F spaced Gibson style humbuckers, and an original German OFR. I consider it my sonic best when it comes to these songs, my friend Jez always lets me use it provided I ask him. He thinks that I am a fast, but soulful player on that guitar. One day he may list it for sale and I will buy it. Like Wayne said in Wayne's World. "It will be mine, Oh yes.. it will be mine!"

Keep on rockin!!

Nice job. That strat sounds really good.

I think you lost your drummer near the end of the first song, he recovered well though.

Just checked out the first couple of minutes. Good sound and you can play and sing at the same time. Keep it up!

Thanks guys, Haha, Well I did lose the drummer at the end of Voodoo Child. I used my board through Jez's amp as well as his guitar. It played awesome.

Killer set...rock on :bigthumb:

Re: For once, I did a 5 song set. Listen to me play as well as other people!

Thanks bud! Which song did you guys like the best and which one had the best chops?

Re: For once, I did a 5 song set. Listen to me play as well as other people!

Voodoo child rocked pretty hard :firedevil

Re: For once, I did a 5 song set. Listen to me play as well as other people!

Probably Voodoo.

I know they all have your own flavor/twist on them, which is cool, but honestly I think Red House had too much. Even lyrically.

I kind of wanted to see the guy with Carvin(?) at the end.

I had to fill in some time, as the punters of this gig wanted more of my solo playing. So Red House was done in Jimi's fashion.

Re: For once, I did a 5 song set. Listen to me play as well as other people!

There's always things to be learnt when you can look/ listen back to your own performances on a recording.

Nathan, what did YOU learn from seeing/ hearing this video ?

(I'm not talking about anything other people say to you about it ... I'm asking what things you feel the video teaches you about what you do).

Re: For once, I did a 5 song set. Listen to me play as well as other people!

Nathan. From the two versions of this video, I noticed that you took your upside-down sunburst Strat style guitar along to the open mic session but performed on a friend's guitar. What prompted this decision? What differences, if any, did you detect between the two instruments?

I basically just kept learning the differences between two guitars.

Well, the natural finished Floyded Strat played better, for one, and had a working 17th fret. And also I just can't stop playing that guitar.

Re: For once, I did a 5 song set. Listen to me play as well as other people!

I'm not sure what to say... I feel like you just want us to validate what you already think about yourself. You've got the playing down pretty good but I think a bit of humility would do you some good. Saying you can't believe nobody else has commented on how great you are is incredibly immature and shows what your true intentions are... attention... and if you don't get the attention you feel you deserve than you subtly make it known you deserve more... asking for honest opinions is good... fishing for compliments? Not so much. Just my two pennies worth... take it or leave it...

Yes. That is a twist, alrighty.

Stop it. You are giving me GAS for the (still) unsold Flip Flop Blue HSS Stratocaster at my local Fender dealership.

my friend Jez always lets me use it provided I ask him.

Jez seems a highly charitable fellow.

One day he may list it for sale and I will buy it. Like Wayne said in Wayne's World. "It will be mine, Oh yes.. it will be mine!"

As Ron Nasty said in "The Rutles", all you need is cash.
