What are you talking about?

rails
rails and TBD
PA
PA and TBD

You don't find that a bit... odd? It would have made more sense to just put down:

Rails and/or TBD
PA and/or TBD

Considering he's leaving the door open for a follow up vote anyway.

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

Patb

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

Either PATB poles or, PATB poles and something else. On the poll my vote will go for the PATB poles but, consider a vote for either.

We PATB lovers know, the PATB's are the best pickups ever made, its a shame they are overlooked by almost everyone.

BTW, if it turns out to be a PATB, I really want one in Double Cream!!!!!!!! That would really make it special!!!!

Yeah baby !Double Cream PATB! Yeeee-Haw!:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :firedevil :firedevil

hahah dude ,my guitar is plain black but who cares. It's going to be unique! It will have the mojo ,the value of having a forum made PU.And in PATB design! That's so cool! And i am so happy that you guys really "see" the possibility!
BTW ,i think we have to order at least 100 of them to get another color than black on PATB!We will see what Evan does!Cheers!

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

I don't think they have the axis bobbins in cream bros. I'm sure they can probably have some molded. I'm not hip on double cream anything, but a zebra one might be cool.

Edit...I don't think they could do one in double cream anyway. I've never seen a cover that would fit over a PA bucker?!

No, I didn't really find it odd, or at least not enough to proclaim it "complete BS". I also don't see how it's going to split any vote. Some people want two rail coils, some want one rail/one other. How is that splitting any vote?

We should've done the color vote first. I'd rather not have bothered putting any thought into it if it turns out double-cream.

I agree. But if there are plastic black covers that can cover it, it's fine.

idea

idea

The pickup in my mind has one blade coil and one PA coil :headbang:

That would look fairly unconventional, plus diff if that's the idea (which is cool), AND of course anything will work, I suppose.., but I don't think that it would be optimal for the unique structure of the Parallel Axis pole piece system. It seems like two coils combined like that may work against one another. There would be one side where "the poles are arranged in a configuration that decentralizes and softens the magnetic field...while minimizing string pull." Up against it's polar side which spreads and strengthens the magnetic pull from end to end and no stops inbetween. Maybe that's the idea, to see if it works, but wouldn't you want to know for sure before hand? Just a thought.

Also there would be an added labour charge for cutting the blade slot in the PA bobbin. (Which may be no big deal to some, but keep it in mind.) I'm assuming as a PA style pickup that the bobbins used for it would be the more retangular type that are specifically used on that model.

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

Can't you specifiy a different color? I was hoping to get one in double white. (cream would look pretty bad w/ white singles in my green strat)

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

I'm thinking that the PATB type pickups are only offered in BLK.

Available in our patented Parallel Axis or standard humbucker style. Humbucker style is available in black, zebra (cream & black), reverse zebra, white, nickel-silver and gold covers.

The PA bobbins are precut, if it can be done as a 'humbucker' (and I assume those bobbins are precut too, with the holes for slugs & screws) they will have to be cut additionally as well.

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

Wow that poll is complete BS.

By having 2 of the options being split up you are basically halving the votes for them.

If would be highly incorrect and unfair to the *majority* if you didn't add those votes together.
I don't mean that to be insulting, but I don't see why you didn't just add the "TBD" thing to the existing option instead of adding an extra slot for it.

That's kind of different than the magnets since this seems more redundant.

Now here's something to ponder about...
I recall you having the exact opposite opinion when it came to adding the Aged and Full A2/A5.

I do agree with this to some extend but in my opinion a "combo of different poles" versus "same pole types in both coils" actually makes a bigger difference than "Aged" vs "Full" (and certainly more than just aesthetics).

Although I think it should have been added in both cases it actually makes more sense in this poll (that you so elegantly call BS) than the last one (which you seemed to think was fine...)

Anyway, right now I feel really insecure with where this is going so I'm gonna think long and hard if I'm gonna be part of this...

Can someone please tell me what is so great about parallel axis poles and how it informs the tone?

Thanks!

Play on of them and it will answer all of your questions real quick.

They are very special.

Well the deal with the magnet poll was that none of the options presented the ability to be potentially the same. With the rails or PA option in this poll, we could decide if we wanted the same cosmetics on both coils or otherwise in a follow up vote instead of adding an option to have a follow up poll.

Do I make sense now? Sorry if my words were a bit harsh.

As far as I understand it, it's the most effective way to capture the string's vibrations.

Well the PA design lets the string "floating" between two slugs. And the magnetic field structure is different. The magnetic pull works different. The magnetic field is wider and the string pull is allmost not there when you don't play. That makes the intonation better! The sustain is the best sutain of all designs (even better than the actives ,self tested and aprooved). And the Bottom ,fullnes and the Frequency spectrum is awesome. There are only 4 models.! single coil (stacked) ,and 3 Humbucker models.

Thanks alot Daemon! Sounds like i might really dig the PA design.

No. How would you propose we conduct a "follow up vote" without a "follow up poll"?

Re: Forum member custom shop pickup….VOTE #4

I thought about it as long as I could. I gotta try out those PA poles! That's where my vote is.

A8, PATB, SD & MJ working their magic on the tone...I'm in for at least two...maybe four if it's going to be everything my Customs are plus a little more!

BTW, nothing says "SD rules" like all white or cream rings and pickguard, with double black bobbins! :bigok:
