Re: FREE set of Duncan pickups of your choice. On me. Merry Christmas.

I still don't want to enter for myself, but I would like to give another entry nomination to superpete. He sounds like he would get much better use out of a new set of pups than I would.

Superpete, hope you win, guy. And give your girlfriend a big hug and kiss for me...what a great gal.

thank you Doc, she most certainly is!

Re: FREE set of Duncan pickups of your choice. On me. Merry Christmas.

This is really cool :).

And... This is just like my third or fourth post in the forum, but I will give it a try...

Im not really that sure about what set I want, I just got my first tube amp, a Carvin V3M and I think the stock pickups of my guitar does not do justice to it...
I play mostly metal, but I also need cleans(Ha! It seems like everyone says that!), the metal or hard rock I play is mostly kind of 80s Heavy and Thrash, maybe some power thrown in there... So my first idea is the JB and Jazz/59 set a lot of people seem to use, but then, maybe a Custom instead of the JB would fit better. Or maybe the Black Winter set??, I dont really know. I would be very grateful with any set you think would fit the genres I listed :).

Besides wanting a better sound, Im planing to paint that guitar in color white, so I was thinking of getting a Power Rails and a VEH or vintage '59 from Guitar Fetish(I cant afford more expensive pickups...) both in white, to a have a completely white guitar :D!!. I dont know, I think it would look nice :)

I would put them into this, its an Ibanez S420, Mahogany body... And there is my new amp :). Sorry for the low quality pictures...

I would like to recommend someone else, but I dont know many people here(or any, for that matter...)

Re: FREE set of Duncan pickups of your choice. On me. Merry Christmas.

I don't know what pickups I want, but I want them for my Fender stratocaster, it's an hss, but I really want a set of pups for it that will give me that old, vintage, quacky strat tone that I love so very much. This guitar is my pride and joy, she was a gift from my grandfather, and was my first guitar, this year I'm taking a trip around the United States and she's going with. The point of this trip is to meet, and learn from, every guitarist I can meet. Anyways, I'll come back and post a picture in the morning, but I think this is such a great thing you are doing, I hope whoever gets it, gives them their money's worth!

Re: FREE set of Duncan pickups of your choice. On me. Merry Christmas.

A great gesture, especially during this hectic Christmas season, where most people are concerned with themselves and the material world. I'd love to throw a set of tappable Quarter Pounders in my Rocker strat copy, the very first guitar I've ever owned. It's been in need of some work, and some pickups will get the job done! I'll make sure to post pics soon.

I finally got around to getting a picture taken... I'm going to move the Dimarzios into my Ibanez, and swap out the pickguard for either a white pearl, or 3-ply black.

This guitar also looks really nice and old :) - recently I just love Strat style guitars.
My dream for now is an American Standard PLUS-TOP Fender - wish to buy it next year :)
but your IBan is also "SEHR GAIL"

Have this Jackson DKMG with EMG 81/85 pair but what I really rather would like to see would be SD Blackouts AHB-1 set in it. Not impressed about the EMG sound. I like more the Blackouts sound with heaviness.

Re: FREE set of Duncan pickups of your choice. On me. Merry Christmas.

Whana to say only Marry Christmas to everyone :)
I hope a guitar music will follow us also in the Next Year!!!
Best Regards,
Peter

Re: FREE set of Duncan pickups of your choice. On me. Merry Christmas.

Count me in, I can't just say no!

I wouldn't mind a specific Custom + 59 set filling the cavities of a particular '90s Jackson Fusion. This guitar has been an endless challenge - first, it split a neck early in its life and received a replacement under warranty. When it came to my place, it was wrong on many levels - a bit abused, furnished with cheap hardware to name just two. Thinking about the ways things could be repaired/improved gave me headaches. But it also made me smile many times, 'cause that's one shred happy neck, together with a screamer of a body.

My nomination goes to XSSIVE, of course! He showed some amazing work and style. Now, if he gets a pickup or two, I am pretty sure they will go right into a jaw-dropping guitar, instead of a drawer. Then, quite probably, somebody's going to pick up that guitar and rock the snot out of it, hopefully making sweet music to his and other people's content. Sounds like a perfect plan, doesn't it?

Thank you for such an outstanding gesture, Rodney. Knowing you do this for the sake of pleasing almost a random stranger gives me all kinds of warm fuzzy feelings. Merry Christmas.

FREE set of SD pickups of your choice. On me. Merry Christmas :beerchug:
This is from me and my family to one of you in the spirit of the season. Why...? Because :yourock: and some of you roll.
My wife suggested it would be great to gift a pair of Seymour Duncan's to a genuine user this year instead of another music org. I agree. It's not only the kids who need the love!

(BTW...if anybody else wants to gift a set or gift one pickup away, please PM me and well include it and get a few more gifts out)
If you have a particular store, a local store for example you would like to support in the process, let me know and I'll see what I can do about it.

The basics:

-Current production models: (Sans Zephyrs LOL) I do have a max price range in mind but it covers just about every relevant set.
-Could be Antiquities, Seths, Tele Sets, Strat sets, Basslines. You name it, they are for you, guilt free, condition free.
Some of you could use the support and some of you are just tone hounds and or gear sluts. It's all cool with us.

Post below: The Seymour Duncan pickup set you want and why you want them.

What is the goal or inspiration in wanting those pickups?
What is the purpose of the swap etc.? Just do your best to answer.

And... please post a pic of the guitar they are going in. It would be cool to see them afterward installed, but these are condition free.

My wife and I will choose / draw a winner live on video before New Year's Day. We have had a blast doing that in the past on other gear forums giveaways.
Might be in a week or might be in 2 depends on the responses. I'll do my best within my schedule.

If you would like a second chance of winning, then recommend someone else to receive the pickups and why they deserve them. Ill pop you in the hat twice.
If they are chosen, they can choose the pickups they most want.

I think a pickup exchange would be the most awesome, maybe next year it can be organized.

I'll do my best to check the thread in a day or so.

Cheers and Respect!

RG

I'd like a matched set of nickel Seths. I've been performing on stock Gibsons and Strats since 1968. ALL my pickups were always left alone until about the mid-90s when I discovered the world of aftermarket pups. In the past 2 decades I have to say I've literally wasted over a couple thousand bucks on these supposed upgrades ... always to go back to Gibson pups. A

Got my first set of SD Vintage Flats back in 1992 or '93 .. they're still in there today. Back in 2003, I fell in love with Gibson Burstbuckers and outfitted a LP Std, SG Std and an ES335 with them (I hated 57 Classics ... too muddy). They've remained in those 3 guitars untill lately!!!
A 2004 Firebird V found me buying a set of SD FB Antiquities. I'm tellin' ya ... that 'Scott' fella on the other end of SD Support, he's taken a lot of food off my table by turning me on to the Seth line.

Having turned into my ripe old, smelly 60's last year, I thought I was done with fooling around and spending money on my instruments. I HAD THEM PERFECT for my purposes until I heard one of this forums members do a UTube vd demoing the Seth Lovers in a 335. Curiousity got me so, I bought one SH-55n for the neck of my LP.. This replaced a Burstbucker 1. I melted and the Seth stays!
This prompted me to buy another SH-55n for the neck of my SG. Same stunning results!!! It replaced a Burstbucker 2. I'm trying to gather demo info on the 2 bridge Seths but I need to hear them before I eliminate the two bridge Burstbuckers in the above mentioned guitars.

I hope to get a matched set of SETH LOVERS for my new 2013 ES-335 Dot Re-Issue to replace the brand new Burstbuckers 1 & 2 that I purchased at the same time I got the guitar. February 2014 will have me recording my first CD of writings over the past 25 years.
All 4 of my Gibsons (hopefully fully loaded with SD Seths and Antiquities) as well as my SD loaded Strat and a National Style One Resophonic will be my featured instruments on these 12 songs.
That's why I'd like a free set of Seth Lovers! Merry Christmas!

My video cameras are setup and in use right now for another project, so no hat drawing. We used a Random Name picker with a master list: It was still fun.
The names spinning were more exciting live. This .gif capture is slow, choppy and doesn't show the full spins of the names, but they were there. Here it is for reference.
