From Clean to Scream

Here's a quick clip I did of my new Ibanez through the Vox AD15VT modeller...

Be careful when I say I'm gonna play through the plexi modeller..its MUCH louder than the twin model. I think there may be a little "mic" distortion..sorry.

BTW, I'm a sarcastic ba$tard, so just ignore my stupidness...

and the overbends...still getting used to the new scale length/tension...

Re: From Clean to Scream

Posted in your mania thread but I'll copy/paste it here.

That sounds really good, bro. It sounds great clean, really chimey. There's a nice bite to it too. Sounds good on all the models. I especially like the 800 tone. Good lead tone on the Soldano too. It appears to me you picked a good one there.

Re: From Clean to Scream

It actually sounds pretty damn nice. I wonder what the consistancy is like between models, because that thing sound pretty good stock. The neck pickup actually has very useable tones, which is more than I can say for my Dean. But, my Dean cost 1/3 of what that guitar cost, and the bridge pickup is plenty good for what I need it for, so it can be forgiven. :fingersx:

Every Ibanez I've ever played felt like a toy and sounded worse. Maybe that's changing now. It's really cool to see that low budget guitars are getting a lot better, especially for the sake of beginners. I think a lot of beginners lose interest because they buy a guitar that has so many problems because of the lack of quality of the hardware and the poor build quality. They buy a guitar that's just going to give 'em hell and it's always falling apart, and some eventually give up. It's really nice to see that if you play around on a few different guitars, you can actually find one that's a keeper and an excellent player.

Anyway, nice find, man. She sounds good. :smokin:

Re: From Clean to Scream

sounds real good bro!

i may have to pick me up one of those Vox's...i've been wanting something for home so i don't have to lug around my other stuff back and forth from church...listen at me i'm crying about lugging around a 1x12 and 1 pedal...lol!!!! :smack: :laugh2: :smack:

Re: From Clean to Scream

Hey everyone, thanks! :D

Erik, Soldano sounds much better with this guitar..prolly cos the pups have less mids.

Suffer, which Dean did you get that cost $100?

Hoss, you're not living up to your screename if you are complaining about draggin 'round a Bjr, and a pedal...:laugh2: The VTs are great...my clips don't even accurately capture the sound, I dont feel. I'd recommend the 15 or 50 over the 30 watter. They are fuller and less flubby (but I think a speaker swap would help the 30 quite a bit)

Rid: yup mahogany body!

Re: From Clean to Scream

I have the Vendetta XM.

It's a good, solid guitar. It's made of paulownia, which is very much like ash in both weight and in woodgrain. It's actually lighter than ash and basswood, but I think it's even harder than ash. It resonates decently, but I only use 10 guage strings. Put on a set of 11s and it'll probably ring a lot better. The solder on the input jack came loose after I got it. Then the screws on the jackplate ripped out. That might've been my fault, because I might not have screwed them back in properly when I took the plate off. I probably removed some wood that I shouldn't have when taking it off and putting it back on. I have the jack taped on there now. But, aside from that little problem, it's definately a great guitar for the money, and it's also a definate player.

Sounded good to me Jeff. Great playing as usual, and a great sound. And nice avatar BTW, Jeff Beck =

Ahh OK...for some reason I thought you had an Evo Elite or something. I almost bought one of those paulownia MLs. They get pretty decent reviews. I hear though the hardware stripping is a problem with paulownia...? IDK.

Thank You Sir :) The Beck avatar is a little forum joke,....ErikH had referenced me (JeffB) in a marshall thread, and someone expanding on Eriks post erroneously thought Erik meant Jeff Beck.....so I thought it was fitting. As much as I love and admire (worship?) Mr. Beck, the avatar is gonna change here soon.

I haven't had any problems other than that, but, as I said, I think that was my fault. Everything else on the guitar is solid. I've heard of lots of problems with the EVO XM, but it's made of basswood and has a satin finish. It's not hard finished, so that's why the hardware falls off on those. Paulownia is very hard. The jack has a very tight fit, so you really have to pull on the cord to get it out of there. Combine that with the fact that I might not've put the screws back in completely straight, and you could have that happen.
