Gibson releases a new model. Theodore

I finally saw one in the wild. It was not even close to an SG, as I speculated. The string tension was very high. The neck was slim and fast, but bends were fighting me a lot more than my SG or Les Pauls. I didn't like the feel at all. The guy wanted to plug it in for me, but I told him it was unnecessary. Based on the feel, I had no desire to play it further. I will say it looked better in person, black with chrome hardware and a TOM.

You would think so but the strings were probably 10s. The action was slammed to the fretboard, no buzz.

A Bigsby makes almost any guitar look better.

My first impulse on seeing those was want.

They had the blue and white in the music store. It is a cool guitar, but the body was a touch smaller than I expected compared to the pictures. This particular store is the best in the area but also the most expensive. I saw one guitar I would have considered a deal, all else was grossly overpriced. If I do not plan on buying something, I do not pull it off the wall just to "check it out".

I have no problem pulling them off the wall just to check out to see if I like it. If I do it gets bought or filed under future possible buys, and if I don't then I just killed a GAS pain.

I ended up with a Guild Jet 90 just because I saw it and thought it looked cool, so I checked it out. I loved playing it enough that I couldn't get it out of my head, and ended up buying it the next day even though I had no intentions of buying at the time.

If I find myself in a shop with cool stuff, I'll definitely ask to check it out just for my own knowledge, but I'm always straightforward with the salespeople that I won't be able to make a purchase on the spot. I would be really interested in playing one of these for fun but it would be low on the list of potential acquisitions. There's so much other stuff I want or even need before another solid body 6 string.

That is exactly what I did. But when the guy asked if I wanted him to set me up with an amp I said no. It was a busy Saturday and those guys work on commission. I didn't want him spending time with me when he could be making money with a buyer. If it was a slow weekday afternoon, I might have taken his offer. But like Seashore said I would be upfront that I didn't think I was a buyer.

I hear that. Tbt I could use two more solid bodies. I have two hollowbodies in E std, but my 5 solid bodies are all set up, strung up, and tuned to Eb to A standard for psychedelic stoner rock and metal. I really need a good work horse solid body for E standard that covers a lot of ground for styles. I'm vacillating between getting a P90/Staple loaded Tele partsocaster built with a Gibson scale neck and a Bigsby, or a Gibson Firebird T and adding a Vibramate and Bigsby as my first choice.

But before that I need to replace my stolen J45R, and am thinking the Eastman Slope Shoulder Dreadnought is gonna be the next guitar I purchase. Probably around the end of next year.
