I've been looking at replacement pups. I'd like some that don't have A2 mags, with more output and extended frequency range.
I've looked at everything from Motor City Detroiter, to Bare Knuckle Steve Stephens, to the Duncan C5, C8 or Angus bridge.
Then today I saw a "Whole Lotta Humbucker" set at GC for $225. I haven't had a chance to read up on them, yet. I'll do that now. In the meantime, any input would be greatly appreciated. Will they fit the bill? More output, wider frequency spread, while retaining clarity?

Have you ruled out Black Winters?

I love my WLH, but I wouldn't describe them the way you have stated - looking for wider frequency spread, extended freqeuncy range, clarity. To me, so far, WLH have character, their own EQ curve. It's beautiful, and good, but different. Not typical PAF (if there is such a thing). Not Seth. Not Burstbucker. WLH have some chime and some meat, but I wouldn't characterize it as wider frequency spread. Also, that WLH price sounds like the typical advertised price for the nickel-covered ones - that price doesn't sound like a deal (unless you live where they just aren't obtainable for less.) I think you could find the for less if you are patient.

Go back and re-read my corrected post… I was thinking of P-90’s, since it was a few years since I fooled around changing pickup in one of my SG’s.

I agree, Edgecrusher was and seems to continue to play the part of a A$$wipe!

Go back and re-read my corrected post… I was thinking of P-90’s, since it was a few years since I fooled around changing pickup in one of my SG’s.

how are the WLH's not standard size humbuckers? Maybe long leg vs short leg but SG's have no problem with long legs so not sure what your getting at...

please explain why he needs to check the body thickness?

To the OP...I like the idea of a Black Winter set or some combination of Pegasus / Custom / Jason Becker in the bridge with Distortion neck / Sentient / 59 in the neck would give you a nice alternative to the vintage tones you already have covered.

But then you go and post a counterfeit Gibson as what i can only guess is an attempt to prove how large your genitalia is... Sorry but that guitar is just all sorts of wrong. I remember seeing those all the time in Beijing. The single ply pickguard, incorrect tail pieces, wrong knob location and skewed body shape all scream Chibson. Does this one actually say Gibson on the headstock or is it one of the ones that says Glisten?
