Glamour Shots

Re: Glamour Shots

Kam, if I owned a tele, it would be exactly like yours, except the other way around. Well done.

Thanks, man. Coming from someone with such impeccable taste in guitars as yourself, that's quite the compliment. :beerchug:

I'm really, really happy with this guitar. It sounds great and it plays better than almost any other guitar I've held. I'm still planning on putting a three-barrel bridge on it at some point but, other than that, I couldn't be happier with it.

That is a cool looking neck pickup and a beautiful guitar. Are you using a 4-way?

Thanks. :)

No four way, though it's kinda funny that you mention that; it's actually something I've been planning to do for a while. However, when I was wiring up that Oil City neck pickup last night, I wired it out of phase on my first go. I played it for a while and thought it was a pretty cool sound in the middle position, but decided that it was something that I would most likely never use. So, I decided to hold off on the four way switch action, at least for now.

Besides, if I wanted the option of OOP sounds, I'd probably go with a push-pull pot anyway. The more positions on a switch, the more difficult it is for me to actually get to the one I want.

Unless I've misunderstood and you meant something else by four-way? Is there some other wiring trickery that you were referring to?

And what's the mini toggle for?

The mini-toggle is the coil-tap switch for my bridge pickup, a Klein Tri-State. It's a three-position switch that selects from 5.2k, 6.7k and 8.3k. I use that switch a lot more than I thought I would. It's a ridiculously awesome pickup.

Here's another picture with my amp....

Kam,
I gotta say the tele looked cool with the 59 in the neck, but that new one is really cool!!

Thanks a lot, dude. :beerchug:

The '59 sounded great in there, but there was too much of a volume jump between it and my bridge pickup. Even though that P90 is a hot one (around 9k) it actually matches up really well with the bridge. There's a bit of a volume difference, but nothing too ridiculous.

Plus I just really wanted another P90 neck. :)

Re: Glamour Shots

If this thread was being mailed, it would be delivered in a plain brown wrapper.. WOW... Id like to make specail note of some, but dont want anyone to feel slighted as its ALL amazing!!

Superpete,
That V is sick! Id love to see more pics.. What brand is the explorer??

Gene,
Dang I wish Id had the change to grab that firebird from you...

Jolly,
as if you didnt have enough hotness around you, that purple build up is amazing!

Astro,
I need to play a Jag.. never have.. Whats with the front knob? just visual or something unique?

vengeance,
You always slay me with the Kramers... The Ibanez DT is nice too!

The Jaguar is not a "one size fits all" kind of design. Some people like it, some people hate it, some people feel it's nothing special and some people think it's completely unique.

The two different knobs have a purpose but it's probably not as cool as you imagine, they are two different pots (500k and 1M) and the shafts are different styles so I can't use the same knob on them. I wish I would have photographed the back so you can see all the wear.

I have long planned to install a bigsby and different pickups. right now I'm leaning on a super distortion and PAF, although I don't know if I want to go double cream with those, or nickel cover with some duncans. (alnico 2 pro and phat cat neck)

Not trickery really. To be honest, I'm not sure what out of phase wiring is. The standard four way wiring allows for combining the neck and bridge in both series and parallel. As it turns out those are my two favorite tones on my Tele.

I know what you mean about the hassle of an extra switch position, though!

Re: Glamour Shots

Sweet board too, Tor!

Thanks a lot, Laz!

Was this taken with an android phone?

I like those tele's but dislike the lack of contours.. and the tele headstock. if it has humbuckers, 70s strat headstock!!!

Yup, an old HTC Desire.. The quality is really bad, but you can kinda get the gist of what's on the pic.

I personally love the lack of contours, because it really adds to the feel of a simple plug and play instrument that you can beat around. But I see the point though.

Re: Glamour Shots

Powdered Toast Man's tele + Kam's tele = my #1 :friday:

It's a beauty. I generally don't like butterscotch blonde or natural finishes, but that one has such a warm, gorgeous tint to it.

Thanks ItsaBass. I guess she's aged well (kinda pale 15 years ago).
