Got any music that's DIFFERENT?

Re: Got any music that's DIFFERENT?

Check out the Australian acoustic band Coolangubra, violin, steel string acoustic guitar, and percussion. They play a mix of many styles. The guitar player, Steve Berry, was flatpicking champion of Australia a couple of times I think. They've got a few CDs out, and here's a YouTube clip:

Another interesting acoustic experimental group is the Penguin Cafe Orchestra from Britain. Slightly "academic" perhaps. Here's a clip of them:

Here's also a clip of Norwegian guitarist Terje Rypdal in a trio. Pretty experimental jazzy stuff:

Re: Got any music that's DIFFERENT?

i dont listen to much modern music TBH but hmm what about

airborne (pretty much the new ac/dc)
mumford and sons (pop folk indie bluegrass? lol )
easy star all stars (check out dub side of the moon! they're a dub reggae band that do their own versions of famous albums)

some good old punk bands you probably already know

the ruts (similar to the clash but didn't get as big)
the nipple erectors (or the nips) (shane macgowan from the pogues' first band)
x-ray spex (female fronted with a sax player!)
toy dolls (great lyrical stories and a shredder for a guitarist!)
