Guitar GAS 2025?

I was also considering getting some sort of Les Paul this year, like a Studio Modern. I dig all the modern features, and hey, it comes in blue! I have to say, Gibson's photography department totally sucks. I can't believe the crappy pictures they allow on their website.
The guitarist I played with last year has one in white. Great guitar with modern features (for being a Gibson). I think you'd like that. I remember he specifically wanted to play the show with it because he said it was lighter and way more comfortable than his Epi LPC or his Strat. I got to play it briefly, and I liked how it felt. If you've ever tried one of the cheaper Tributes, it feels like that. The satin finish is very slick and easy to play and also very thin, so Gibsons with that kind of finish have a reputation for being very open-sounding. It does gloss up with use, though. And the neck profile is the 60's with the compound radius, I believe, which I find comfortable, personally.

The only real downside was his 498T was microphonic. I think that's a common issue because that Trogly dude from YouTube had the same issue in his demo of the Modern Studio. He fixed it by simply removing the cover. But I'm sure you'd swap the pickups out because IIRC, you don't like the 498T/490R, do you?

Generally, no, but I like unpotted pickups a lot, so something being microphonic isn't an issue with me, it is the overall tone.

That's the thing. They're not unpotted, LOL. So they're not supposed to do that.

I remember not liking the 490R in the neck that was in my Tribute because I found it highly underpowered with the Black Winter that I first put in there. But quite honestly, I'd love to give one another chance now that I'm using more moderate output pickups like the JB or the Aldrich.

The 490R was about the most bland pickup I've ever used.
People seem to not like those. But people also not like the 498T, and I like it. I'm not gonna go out of my way to hunt one down, honestly. I don't want to try it that badly.

Either way, on the topic of the thread, I hope this year will be the year I get myself a black Les Paul Classic.

I'm probably going to end up with a custom Iceman at some point. Not 100% sure what direction I'm going with it yet, but I can definitely feel the pull in my soul, ha ha!

Seriously considering doing something inspired by this rare '80s B.C. Rich Iceman that I sadly missed out on a while back:

^I do dig the orange, and was actually considering a candy orange for a Warmoth I want to build. I haven't settled on a color, yet, but it will be something in the red/orange family.

I don't so much want a new guitar
got plenty

But I do want to put a 3 band active eq in an LP style guitar

I been Jonesing for one of the semi hollow Grote LP size things on Amazon

The photo flame on those are stunning

Basically I want to create the electronics and see how that works

Not so much a new guitar

I have an Epiphone Florentine I could Jack up

But it is such a nice guitar, I like it how it is

Well I was looking at the three band active eq from artek

They have some 2 bands as well

Maybe strat is where I sould start

I am thinking the Les Paul Modern Lite might be a good live backup for my Custom Lite. They are going for around $1300. I would like to play one first; I do not want to buy it blind.

I'm loving mine. Plays great and sounds great. They are 1,400, though. I wouldn't have paid 1,400 for mine, but if you find a good deal, then totally recommended. Guitars are getting more and more expensive, sadly, but that's not exclusive to Gibson guitars.

What is a 'good deal' on these? I do like the red one the best, I think.

I liked the red one the best too, but my gold one was on sale for whatever reason. Mine was 1.6K CAD. So around 1.1K USD. So not like a HUGE discount, but I didn't feel too bad playing it because part of that was credit from a guitar I wanted to get rid of anyway.

That's a pretty good price. I wonder why the discount compared to other retailers. Is it just the color, or does the model itself not seem to be very popular?

The store usually discounts demo guitars, but this wasn't labeled "Demo". Not sure if it was a return, but I've been looking really hard for flaws, and I haven't found any. Maybe, yeah, it's just unpopular finish. The green one was discounted too, but it was 1800 CAD, IIRC.

I love the look of that LP, (with the zebra's), so much that I may swap my Jazz zebra set into my EPI LP Custom, and put the PATB's into something else. :scratchch

I have 14 guitars for customers I need to finish, and for myself I have 11 LP's, 2 carved top strats, and 1 superstrat in the works.

That's a grand total of 28 guitars. If I am succesful and do it all in one year, that's 2.5 guitars a month.
