Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

I got two Catch-o-matic guitar stands from Musician's Friend back in the day.

It is, by far, the best guitar stand for pointy guitars. It works wonderfully for my Warlocks, Washburn Dime, and BC Rich Virgin.

I rather enjoy that it does not put all the weight of the guitar on the neck.

On this continent I have a standard A frame. I keep wanting to get some of those nice Hercules stands.

Back in Canada I had a standard stand with no autogrip yoke thingie.

Stands are great as temporary places to hold your guitar (unless the room is secure and no babies are running amok), otherwise, in the case we go!

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

I have a couple of these auto-grab Hercules stands. I never take more then 2 guitars to a gig and rarely have more than 2 guitars out of their cases at home.

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

I have a variety of types of stands, including a double one and a custom made wrought iron one shaped like a treble clef.

Fretrest 3 guitar stand.

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

I only use a stand at home, and then have to keep it away from my big, clumsy German Shepherd. Onstage, it's usually pretty crowded with the band and gear, and guitars can get knocked over so easily, and who's fault is it? The drummer or bass player that have to climb over piles of amps, mic stands, pedals, and cords, or the guy who put the guitar on the stand? When I'm not playing a guitar, it goes back in a hard case.

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

Pretty much straight from the case or bag to my hands and straight back, or leaned up against the cab.

The only stand I've ever owned is a halfassed metal thing my little brother made in junior high shop class. Actually it's pretty awesome, he left it when he moved to Lawrence in 1998, I've still got it.

They fold up nice and compact too. They're made by a company called Kinsman,

This is my El Cheapo APX4a sitting on the acoustic version

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

At home, when practicing/playing I rarely use a stand. When I play my acoustics if I need to set it down I just put it back in the case. When I play electrics I have a cheapo stand that I have right there to set it on. When I gig I have two single Hercules stands. They work well & the likelihood of them getting knocked over is rare. They are very stable & very strong.

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

There are a number of different types of guitar stands available on the market, which leads to the following poll question...

Why not buy a stand that suites the beauty of your instrument and expresses your love for it?

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

Think the first decent stand I bought was an Ultimate , kind of a folding A frame type had it 20 years at least. I have a bunch of the Hercules stands 1 ,2 and 3 guitars set up in my room and a few wall hangers too. When I get a guitar it gets a case , straplocks, a strap and a stand. I carry one of these in the bag of everything too

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

My pointies don't fit very will on any stand, so I get the regular tube frame stand and drill them higher, so they pivot enough to fit the points. I'll take a picture later.

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

I have an Explorer and a Jackson RR hanging on the Hercules 3 now , never had an issue with pointy guitars and stands once I bought them. Wall hangers work great for them too? When I first got the single Hercules to start out.

Re: Guitar Stands - Which one do you use?

Wall hangers and cheapest floor stands I can find

When GC had the musiciansgear stands on sale for $5 each I got several

Same with wall hangers
I got four hangers up now and five more of the fretrest to put up

I really want to get my guitars off the floor
