Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

BTMN

LifeIsGoodologist
So we know FMIC has shut the brand down, but did you know there are a few still being made that were ordered before a deadline they set. There are a few left to be done and some of the guys at Hamer/Guild have been gracious to let us in on that as it goes down. None ordered are mine but there is a Standard nearing completion that I wish was. :23:

This thread was started back in May of last year. If you are an HFC member you will be able to see the photos. If not, well, it might be a long read. :dunno: :bigthumb:

That is a crying shame. I love Hamers even though I don't own one. Now might be the time.

Re: Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

I still see the photos...

A shame the brand has 'died', always loved the look of a Hamer standard...one day. Thanks for the post

Can't get much more beautiful than this (mainly because I own it!):

Re: Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

I'm hoping I can do justice to my scarab. My only gripe is the 3+3 headstock shape.

I get angry everytime I think about what happened to Hamer. I had my nitpicks with the ones I owned, but yeesh..what stellar craftsmanship.

I had something similar, without the f hole, and I also had a Scarab. Both were great guitars, but a major move meant selling them.

I currently have two 1993 Specials, one buckers, and one P90s. My Hamer selling days are over!

Re: Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

Yep they are pretty damn rad.

The Virtuoso game me my inspiration on my current build.

Re: Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

Ahhh a Blitz! Fun guitars. i have a really cool one but man, it is heavy. :headbang:

Re: Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

I've owned a Hamer 5-string Cruise bass which was made in Korea for roughly 10 years now...and man, let me tell you, that bass is a BEAST. It is really surprising how well it is build. My first guitar to be honest. I still play the thing today, it's a total rock.

That sucks to hear that the company that made my longest owned and most reliable guitar is shutting down.

Re: Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

That one is a beauty but a LOT of money. In Japan too. Bunch of HFC members in Columbus and a few Hamers.

Here is the one you NEED!!!

I saw that one today! I have "USA Hamer" saved on one of my eBay searches so I get emails everyday! Did you live in Columbus in the early to mid 80's? I remember a Standard hanging on the wall at Coyle Music in Reynoldsburg. It was cherry sunburst but it was very distinctive as it had an odd "stripe" (for lack of a better term) running parallel to the neck right thru the toggle switch. It was maybe an inch to an inch and a half wide and somewhat tapered.........Anyway, that was one of those "one that got away" guitars.......If I saw it now, 30 years later, I would know it for sure! Maybe its in your collection!

Re: Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

Left Columbus in 1976 with only a visit/short stay once or twice a year pretty much since then. Never seen that one but Keller Music was a Hamer seller and now that guy Kim Keller is Customer Service manager for them or was. He is still there in Ct. with the other brands formerly run by Kaman.

Re: Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

I'm gonna sign into that fan club finally. I'd really like to figure out the provenance of my Scarab.

Re: Hamers Are STILL BadAss!!!

Sounds like a Blitz not a Scarab. I have never seen a Scarab with a 3x3 headstock. Got a photo?
