Re: Having fret buzz issues...this is odd...

is it a bolt on? maybe the neck joint was moved when you had the strings off?

Re: Having fret buzz issues...this is odd...

yup it's a bolt on (a strat) and the neck doesn't seem to have moved at all...and it's still giving me fret buzz on the E and A and i can't figure it out...

JohnJohn...any other ideas....please...

Re: Having fret buzz issues...this is odd...

almost exactly 1/8" on the E ( a tiny bit shy) and almost dead on 1/8" on the A

thanks for the suggestion, but i don't know why everyone says pickups when i've mentioned 3 times it's not that lol...no i'm not mad (don't take my comment the wrong way) .........thanks for taking the time to reply this may serve as a good problem solving post for others also in the future!

any other things i should try...asside from sticking the guitar on the table saw and saying goodbye hahaha j/k this one is one of my favorites, i'd never do it!!

Yeah, I know.....sorry to beat the dead horse. lol My heart goes out to ya brother! I wish there was more I could suggest.

............hmmmmmmm.............

Have you thought about swapping out the 2 new strings that are buzzing? - the E and A? Maybe they got kinked slightly while still in the package. It's happened to me more than once.........the string has a slight kink that's hard to detect by the naked eye, but shows itself, once installed, by buzzing the frets below the kink.

I'll keep trying!

I know you say you've checked the pickup height, but I wonder if the magnetic pull from the newer units are strong enough to 'pull' on the strings a little more than the pickups you took out?? Traditional single-coils are a little more likely due to the slugs actually BEING the magnets, but wow.........this one's got me stumped.

Maybe drop the pickups waaaay down into the guard as far as they'll go without popping off the screws, and play the guitar acoustically to see if there is a difference in the buzz.

Good luck. Rest assured, you'll figure it out, or it will sort itself out.

Mike
That's what my origional post regarding the height was recommending...the magnetic pull could be doing you in. I noticed that when I raised my bridge pup, immediately got fret buzz. Found reason between bite and buzz and it's all going well now!

Re: Having fret buzz issues...this is odd...

ok this is some sick crap going on in my house i think...my strat is still buzzing on E and A and my MIM tele is doing it also but much less and by raising the action (not that i wanted to) it mostly went away although the action is a bit high now and not too fun to play....anyway the strange part, i got my US made tele in the mail today...brand new (woohoo), i let it sit and warm up for about 30min or a bit more and slowly bring it up to tune alternating strings...guess what...the E and the A both buzz...i loosened the truss rod a tad and let it sit for a few min then made sure it was in tune again and still it has fret buzz....this is nuts...i'm pretty sure now it's weather related but it's not even that cold (it's 11:20pm and it's 44 degrees out, not crazy cold and my house (although i live in the finished basement with my guitars) is warm...i don't get this..3 fenders all with the same problem and one brand spankin' new WTF...i have no luck and think i need a luthier or a miracle hahaha. i'm going to restring the new tele with 10s since it has 9s on it now and i'm not a fan of 9s and see if that does anything...i'll do it one string at a time to be safe and alternate from top to bottom strings.

JohnJohn as for the frets, they all feel normal, no sharp ones, no change noticable.

now i'm really going crazy...

Re: Having fret buzz issues...this is odd...

Mike,

I am have the EXACT same problem, although its with an Agile Explorer. Played fine out of the box. I threw in some Duncans, put on a set of GHS Boomers and everything was down hill from there. Same buzzing issue. I'm actually letting it sit for a day or so before I mess with it again.

I know this doesn't help your situation, but I feel your pain man :)

Re: Having fret buzz issues...this is odd...

well at least i'm not alone...maybe it some crazy east coast weather thing lol...i just hate that i have 3 guitars that are a mess and buzzing and one is brand new. hopefully i can get them to a luthier soon for some help b/c this is over my head now i think.

Re: Having fret buzz issues...this is odd...

JohnJohn...you sure that was you last idea...it's day 3 of the buzz nightmare and no change :(

-Mike

Re: Having fret buzz issues...this is odd...

lol, it's not all of them, it seems to be 3 out of the 11...and the 3 happen to be fenders which is odd...i don't get it, i know it's not me and i didn't cause it somehow and i can't figure out how to fix it either.
