I think I see where this is going......
I think more people would want combos. They're a little more portable and apartment/small house friendly. You're gonna have your die hard head/cab guys, but I think your bigger market would be combos. Just my opinion, though.

I own several cabs and I Like being able to plug a head into the different cabs,plus the head is a bit lighter...
If it's a combo,for me it has to be a 2x12 cab...

+1, Both are useful in their own ways, I don't think you could pick one or the other, It all depends on prefrence, maybe most people are more into combos?
I personally just like the Idea of Head and a Cab, but for a combo 2x12s are cool usually...

dude, i'd stick to combos. Put a nice grill and with that finished wood look (no tolex idea you have in the other thread.) you cant go wrong. I'd take a stained wood combo cab over any head/cab config any day.
It also makes the amps 'sleeper' amps so to speak. Nobody expects a wood finished fender clone amp to rip up marshall tones out of a 2x12 combo, which makes it all the better when you see the look on people's faces.

For mass appeal the combo is the way to go.........but for a $1000 price point you are dealing with people who have been playing a few years. What your demographic is makes all the difference in the world.
For what I see your demographic being the head cab version would work best. Then the owner can use their own cabs, or buy one of yours. That said try to make your cabs some kind of standard size. A guy who builds amps here in AR. has 16" deep heads which makes for a strange, to no fit on a marshall slant front. For your cabs you might want to consider closeable back cabs, that way someone can tailor their tone to their taste

I love the look of a 212 combo with a matching 212 cab, but 212 combos can get a little unwieldly (see 5150). I'd go with an oversized 112 open back combo with a matching 212 closed back cab.

For a better entrance into the market I would say combos. The majority of the people is going to ask for that format due to the already mentioned portability issue.
You could make a first combo approach and, in a second move, offer some head versions and corresponding cabs. And from there try to lead people to the head/cab territory.
But if your potential clients database is the forum, go directly to the heads! :dance:

I agree with you head and cabinet is the way to go with experience, but combos are great for starters.FPA_687 said:

keep it simple and go combo on everything.
I hate lugging my bandmaster head and my 1x15 cab, one in each hand, from my car to wherever im jamming at. It would be much more convenient to simply grab a combo with one hand and my guitar in the other and just play, and i really dont care if a stack looks 'badass' or not, cause ill be having a badass back problem if i have to carry one places.
What's bad is that im sure that it would be a pain to make combos, heads and cabs. It's much easier to make 3 different combos than to make 3 different heads and 3 different cab configurations.
