Headphones What are you using?

Re: Headphones What are you using?

Audio-technica M30. Wasn't too expensive but I forget how much I paid for them, under $100 Canadian. They seem well built and have a good sound to them, NOT MIDSCOOPED like so many others out there. They aren't meant for sound isolation. I use them for listening to music, mixing, playing computer games when the noise might bug my roomies.

Re: Headphones What are you using?

Grado SR325, retail about $350, I think, for critical listening.
For recording I have a couple pairs of Grado SR80, $95/pr.

Re: Headphones What are you using?

Beyer-Dynamic DT-531...had to be smuggled to me from Germany. :laugh2: How's THAT for esoteric? :laugh2:

Re: Headphones What are you using?

Somewhere . . . in a box, is my old Beyer-Dynamic's. The best I've heard so far. But since I can't find them, I use my old work-horses, AKG-240's. They must be 20 years old, and just won't die. And they sound great too.

(Can't remember what I paid for them. Paid around $200 for the BD's.)

Sony MDR-7506. It's the industry standard and they only cost about $100. :smoker:
Both points are TRUE; great closed ear headphones ...

Re: Headphones What are you using?

I picked up a pair of Sony Studio Headphones, around $20 just for practicing with. They work great and very durable, dropped them a couple times. Not bad for the price. If you do actually work in a studio and you've got a big wallet you may as well get the seinheisers, but these would still make a great backup.

Re: Headphones What are you using?

Sehnheiser HD 212pro . I have a bad habit of breaking headphone's,So
I didn't wanna blow a wad of cash. These do the job just fine. My last
pair was a high end Sony. they sounded good untill the end, But had
more Duct tape and gorrilla glue holding Em' together than i care to admit. :smack:

Re: Headphones What are you using?

$29 Sony MDR CD280 Headphones that I bought at a "FYE" store at the mall. I use them for listening on my laptop. They are pretty good so far.

Re: Headphones What are you using?

Sennheiser HD-515

Sound very nice. Mainly use them for listening on my PC at work, but they do the job really well when recording on my PC.

Re: Headphones What are you using?

I think my wife is getting me a set of those noise-blocking Bose headphones for x-mas. With all my airline flights, I've been really wanting to get a set of them. I tried some that a friend had for a few minutes and they kicked butt.

Sennheiser HD-280'S. They run about $99.99. IMO they are great for the money. :)
+1

only thing i don't like is the cord seems heavy

Re: Headphones What are you using?

i just recently got a pair of Sony MDR-V300's and i love them. about 30 bucks or so and they sound great, really separate all the instruments when i listen to music, and they are very clear.

Re: Headphones What are you using?

Sennheiser HD-490 They sound nice, though they don't do much for blocking sound, since they are 'open'. I may spring for some good closed-ear headphones eventually.
