Headphones What are you using?

Re: Headphones What are you using?

SONY MDR-7506 for recording and an old pair of lightweight Koss headphones for late night practice.

Re: Headphones What are you using?

Sennheiser HD-280's. Compared to my monitors (M-Audio Bx5) and my car sterea, they can sound harsh, so they aren't good to mix with. They also make my Tonelab settings sound harsh and too bright. It's weird, because they sound pretty good with prerecorded music, but when I'm recording, they sound harsh.

These headphones have the largest wattage rating that I could find. I blew many headphones to shreds... sounds scary. My main use for them is to listen to the click track over the guitar while I'm recording. I record on my computer using Cakewalk and I needed headphones loud enough to hear the beat and these do the job very well.

Re: Headphones What are you using?

I use SONY ( dynamic stereo headphones) MDR-V600;grrreat sound for the price: CA 125.00$ 5 years ago.
I use them for practice; disadvantage: BUT it has a pig tale spring type of wire that I'll change eventually for a strait uncoiled wire.
They coverall around the ear; in hot & humid weather you sweat around the ears after 30 minutes.

I have tried Sennheiser Wireless T40; 3 years ago CA 350.00$I was so DISAPPOINTED: I did not use them at all for practice; after tasting the wired Sony sound experience, the sound of the Sennheisers seemed choked by a pillow; I think it is because ithas a kind a damper to protect their speakers or your ears against high volume dammage; So even if you krank up your volume it wont go higher than a certain preset volume that you can't bi-pass !
I Wasn't able to get any information about it from Sennheiser; Theirconsumer service is a big 0. At the company in Montréal they never returned my calls, neither my E-mails.
The T-40's are TV quality (not CD) and I now only use them for that. Advantage: their foam cushins are confortable
and you are freed of wire unconforts for guitar practicing !

other bug: occasionnal noise interference
Since then I have not shoped a lot but I think that reasonable priced wireless earphones have not yet reached the wired ones quality.
If somebody has found some let me know

Sony MDR-7506

I have two pairs, both at least ten years old. They both still work perfectly. I paid right at $100 each.

Re: Headphones What are you using?

I'm currently using these cheap-sh*t Sony MDRV150s that cost like 20 bux :lmao:

Id like to get a pair of Sennheiser HD280s though. I think I'll wait till i buy my Mac with GarageBand to get them though... as for smaller earphones these Koss Porta Pros sound GREAT! I tried a pair my friend had and was surprised at how good they sounded.
