Either smallbear forgot to include the 10K bias trimpots in my order, or I forgot to order them. :smack: I got your board completely done, just waiting on that darn trimpot. I might be able to get by without that though. Let me see if I've got a couple resistors that'll get me to the right voltage without needing the trimpot.

I don't consider a Big Muff to be Fuzz at all. It's a distortion pedal. Look at the FUZZbrite, a clone of the '60s Mosrite FUZZrite pedal. It's very well received on Harmony Central.

The Huckleberry seems pretty difficult to get hold of..you guys have any other options?How is the Pedalworx McFuzz and the VoodooLab SuperFuzz?

Look over at The Gear Page www.thegearpage.net they pop up semi-regularly.
Also, look for the HBE UFO....very cool vintage & modern fuzz for not a whole lotta dough used.

+1 on the HBE Ultimate Fuzz Octave. I found the Tweak Fuzz to be good at warming stuff up, but also found it too tame (I like the generally like the harsh, razory type fuzz tone). The one thing I like about the Tweak Fuzz, is how it warms up a solid state amp. I would also say the the Tweak Fuzz is rather "organic" sounding, in that if one finds a tone they like...they can set it...and play with it "always on".
The Big Muff IMO, is a big wad of undefined/compressed/noisy blah. I only played 70's units years ago. I like the old one-knob muff fuzz better.
The HBE UFO nearly does it all in one box (harsh to creamy), and is extremely quiet even under high gain.

Cool..the Tweak Fuzz is my default option if I fail to score the Huckleberry anywhere.
Anybody tried the Monsterpiece Fuzzes? Handmade boutique stuff for $95.

Thanks for the heads up..saw it, sent a PM..but due to the time difference between India and US, maybe its too late.The thread already had 90 views when I saw it!
I really like the clips of the pedal, might try out a Monsterpiece Fuzz if I cant score the Huck.

Sludge and I have dicussed the Brilliance of the UFO. It is a great Fuzz. I have A/B'd it for others while I play, and they prefer the tone of the UFO...
HOWEVER...
I feel the UFO doesn't back off and give you that clean/dirty sound Hendrix used to get. UFO gets kinda dark and is still quite saturated.
In that case, my preference is the FoxRox Captain Coconut 2 and the FoxRox FuzzFoot. The FuzzFoot is basically the same Fuzz off the Cocunut. What a gorgeous tone, a bit brighter than the UFO, but it does that dirty clean thing where you can get it to clean up AMAZINGLY with your hands or the volume knob.
I am no Fuzz expert though. I am still trying to figure out how to cop Jeff Beck's tones. SoulBender anyone?
