When I was shopping for one a year ago I really like the Little Big Muff a lot. It was, to my ears, a bit smoother than the original Big Muff.

Anyway, I ended up spending more for a Fulltone 69' and don't regret it.

I havn't tried any pedals under say 170 or so, HBE has a great Fuzz Octave Pedal, zVex has the fuzz factory, Demeter has the fuzzulator, in the end i got the fuzzulator because it wasn't as hard to dial in.. If you want a good fuzz but don't want to pay much maby try building a fuzz pedal, they are pretty simple circuts. www.smallbearelec.com has great deals on parts. Look up the schematics online.
