Help with unknown pickups

I just picked up a collection of what I was told were Seymour Duncan pickups, figuring I could figure out what they are based on the lists of codes online. When I got them, I discovered that they have no markings at all. I haven't sorted through them yet, but they all seem to be flat pole pieces, some staggered some not. 3 humbuckers and about 9 singles. Two of the HBs seem to have larger diameter pole pieces, and they are all double rows of flat poles, not a row of flat and a row of screws. Is there actually any hope in hell of identifying them? I'm no expert, they were a really good price and I've got guitars I'd like to learn to upgrade.

Thanks.

Re: Help with unknown pickups

Ive owned a first act that fits the description of those HB's. They weren't bad pups at all but Im also not saying thats what you have. Could be a direction to look into for investigation

I hate to not be able to add anything to the discussion, but how mutch did you manage to get them for? Also, pictures might help.

Re: Help with unknown pickups

Post at least one photo of the top & bottom and someone will probably know what they are.

I paid $80 CDN for 3 humbuckers and 8 or 9 single coils. Couldn't pass it up. I'll post pictures when I get a chance. I'm not currently home. As far as the first act pickups, every one I've seen has an oddly moulded face. Kind of an arc on the top and bottom, makes it look like the pickup has an oval around it. These don't have that.

Here are the HBs. There is a third with a white bobbin that appears to be identical to the first. They have slightly larger pole pieces than the second.

Yeah...none of those pictured are Duncans! Look like random pulls from cheaper import guitars to me, most of which have been hacked up a bit.

If you were expecting Duncans, then I say get your money back!

Re: Help with unknown pickups

cheap asian pickups. They appear to me. I have one buried in a drawer virtually identical to the first one. it measures 16 kohm and it has a huge ceramic magnet. Sound good? Who knows?

Re: Help with unknown pickups

None of those p'ups are Duncan.

Those are all cheap, OEM ceramic p'ups of asian origin, taken from cheapest of the cheap instruments as well.

Don't keep your hopes up of being anywhere near good-sounding.

Sorry, you asked!

HTH,
