Yep, turning into Hiwatt guy in my old age (the Marshall sounds great too, but I think the 12m bass cones make it sound a little too dark)

Mostly 'cause my buddy is a big Hiwatt fan and he sounds amazing. Runs SG's into Hiwatts, yes he loves PT. He's got a 50 a 100 and a 6 channel PA head.

Robert Fripp used Hiwatts in King Crimson. They are loud, clean, built like a tank, and very loud. LOUD. A great platform for pedals, or those that use complex setups, or have outstanding technique, as they are pretty unforgiving. Both Hiwatt and Marshalls are too big and heavy for me these days though.

i can't vote because i never tried a hiwatt. i do have four marshalls.

i think coldplay's x&y album has a lot of hiwatt in it. if so, it's so nice.

i like marshalls because they have that upper mid EL-34 voicing and they don't turn chords into a mess of noise. you can hear each note in a chord no matter what the volume is.
