Hotter wound 59' model?

The Custom, SD, FS, etc... are all wound with thinner wire than a 59 Model... they are hotter, but not of the same design parameters... if you want a hotter 59 Model, you would need to order it overwound from the Custom Shop.

Interesting concept. I've been making my '59n a little hotter by adding 2 ceramic magnets and this puppy smokes but I think it would even smoke more when it would be hotter.

To my ears, the C5 is exactly that: a hotter version of the '59. Just because two pickups have a similar EQ doesn't mean they will sound the same. Take a look at the Alnico II Pro and the '59. Both have a similar EQ, but they sound completely different. If you want something that sounds like a hotter '59, you want a C5.

I disagree, I used a couple C5's and to me they were exactly as advertised. A hotter, slightly thicker 59.
