Pulled out the Epi V today and was messing with the Laney AOR a bit. I spent the week messing with the Laney's hi gain channel voicing, upped the O.C caps to .068 and the two others next to it ( don't know what the hell their official title is....) to .068 as well. Lowered the resister off of the input jack to a 33k, down from a 68K. I wanted to lower the gain a bit and add more warmth to it. I also swapped the 50+50 filter in the pre section to a 16+16 cap, really like what that did. Have a wide assortment of pre tubes going on, the highlghts being an Amperex Bugel Boy in V1 and a Realistic 12AU7 in the 4th posistion. As you can hear, the amp still screams with no boosts engaged. My gripe with the hi gain input is that it is too bright and lacks useable clarity, I am digging it a lot more now.

I am running it with more gain than my normal self, master dimed, pre 3/4 of the way, just cause I wanted to put it in scream mode.....

That unmistakable Laney tone and reverb. God how I love that sound. That tone sounds superb. I wish I could afford a new Laney amp. I wonder if the new models sound as good as those AORs did.
