How do I do that "squeal"-stuff??

Hey guys, I'm kinda into 80's like metal and I want to know how they always do that squeal thing the do I've got two little examples from extreme... you'll know what I mean:

Just pinch harmonics with some vibrato

Nuno is one of the best at it.

Hot humbucker...lots of preamp gain. Trebley tone. Bolt on neck guitars make it easier vs.a gibson scale, IME...find the nodes between the pups and practice digging in with your thumb when you pick the note. It's a very aggressive thing.

Dood, I can do pinch harmonics... just not 10h sustain ultra combined pinch harmonics.

yeah..i used to wonder about the same thing...its all basically pinch harmonics and the right settings on your amp. with my strat and crappy 15watt marshall solid state and a wah pedal, i can get a harmonic to go on forever...its weird cause i can only do it with my dinky marshall and not with my vox.

anyways...just experiment with different settings and different parts of the string. its fun to do but its easy to OD on them

Those are pinch harmonics. Remember the vibrato and be careful of your positioning. You can get different tones from picking from a different place.

Thanks for the advice guys... I actualy know all the picking stuff with harmonics... I could just never ever get them to squeal like hell as heard in those songs... I think I need a DC or DD...

and get your rig to feedback slightly when you got it right. .. you can stretch a note out for half an hour

Thanks for the advice guys... I actualy know all the picking stuff with harmonics... I could just never ever get them to squeal like hell as heard in those songs... I think I need a DC or DD...

Unfortunately no... I don't have equipment to record I wanted to do clips of my TSL too...

Ok so I just kicked in my crappy multieffect pedal... along with the hum it produces, it also gave my '59 quite a boost... I CAN SQEAL NOW TOO :headbang:
Really just a matter of pups I suppose... thanks for your help guys
