I'm completely blown away by this guy. Every time I see him he looks like he's giving absolutely 100% to the music that he's creating, and nothing matters apart from what he's doing at that precise moment.
SRV and Hendrix are the two other that spring to mind with that level of intensity.

I'd never seen this guy on camera before or heard his stuff, but I can tell right away that he was the kind of musician who would play if the only guitar available to him were a Kay with rusty barbed wire for strings and a nut made out of rubber. Impressive, to say the least.

I had a G&L Legacy for sale a couple of years ago.
A potential buy wanted to know if I could get a Rory Gallagher tone from it.

I didn't have any Rory CDs at the time so I tried to dial in a tone as close as I could remember.

I have one of those JMP combos and a 62 RI Strat (rosewood board) that's about the same age as Rory's Strat was in that video. I have been a big fan of Rory since I was in my teens and his playing remains a huge influence on mine.

It's fair to say that when I plug my Strat into my JMP and channel my inner Rory I sound absolutely nothing like him

between that strat and marshall combo was a rangemaster treble booster. . . very distinct sound
