If you have dings or flat out tears in TOLEX - how do you fiz it and NOT devalue the amp?

I glue 'em back down and then carefully color the tear with a black Sharpie.

Then I rub it really hard and fast to remove a little of the ink on the surface and blend it in.

I've used super glue but Tear Mender (kind of a rubber or latex cement) works better.

I do the same thing Lew said. If there's tolex missing on the tear, I'll cut a neat little square out of the tolex that's tucked in the back, and patch it. I've only done that once, to fix a vintage Marshall before I sold it.

As mentioned, try some contact cement. DAP Weldwood makes a good gel-type of glue that is less "string-y" than some rubber-base glues that one would find in your local supermarket. Clean both surfaces with some alchol, or mineral spirits, apply the glue to both pieces...let the glue "tack up" then CAREFULLY align the pcs. and apply. It's tough to separate the pcs once they've been joined, so be forwarned.
