Stretching strings is a lost art. I never see it talked about in forums, never.

Here is an interesting thing. My ibanez with the edge pro trem bridge has more sustain than any other guitar i have. That includes my bluesbird with the gotoh tune-o-matic /stop bar type bridge. I would guess most guys with floyd type bridges have not had the same experiance, but in my case its the most sutainful and resonant guitar i have.

I think you can mark that down under opinion.

I actually like the sound of a floyd on alot of guitars. I certantly did on my BC Rich.


It was also the best sustaining guitar I've ever owned. The EMGs sure didn't hurt that part of the equation though. ;)

How many guitars have you played with a different bridge and then turned around and had it routed for a Floyd? I really don't think you could accurately say without doing that. Yeah, it's going to kill your vintage tone if that's what you're going for, but most people don't use a Floyd if that's the tone they're after.
