not a bad idea, but via headphones, you wont be reaping benefits of nicer speaker.

Also be aware that if that new celestion is more "efficient" than your existing one, it's going to have more percieved volume.

I didnt think about that. But, having tried a few different amps lately, I realized how much I love my old go-to amp, and I think I need to give him a gift of graditude for his years of loyal service. what better way than a new celestion?
