I don't usually like Shecters, but....

I just saw one last night at GC in all black. I told the sales guy my next guitar is most likely an Explorer so he took that off the wall. I am not a big fan of active electronic so I passed on playing it. Plus for a few hundred more I can get my dream guitar. I will say it was pretty light compared to other Explorer-type guitars I have held.

What is your dream guitar?

Its supposed to be mahogany, so maybe the body is thinner to reduce weight?

It depends on the day and the weather. But right now it is this. I have some home projects going on right now but when I am done if I am at or under budget I think I am going to pull the trigger.

That is pretty great too.

I would have to see the shecter side by side the explorer to see if quality stacks up.

The Schecter was gorgeous a really nice guitar the only reason I didn't play it was the active pickups and I don't want another Floyd guitar.

I'd say one thing that makes it a bit lighter is the thinner neck. A little less maple can shave some weight, as well as it having a bit thinner body.

One thing you can do is go to Sweetwaters site and have a look at the models in their guitar gallery to compare average weights.
I'm sure they have real Explorers on there too, so you could compare.

Its all mahogony construction, but I get your point.

Schecters from Korea are superb. I have four, two are Banshees. Ibanez Prestige quality at Squier prices.

Just dive right in sight unseen, you won't be disappointed.

I only have one Schecter, a C-1. One of the best production guitars I own. Superb quality at a reasonable price.

I don't care much for Explorer type guitars. To me they feel kinda like Firebirds (which I own). I have very short arms and the way they hang on me I can hardly reach the lower frets. Plus, of course, I don't like the neck dive and where the strap button is located.

How is there neck dive? Looks like the extension of the body to the right would counterbalance that.

Of course this Shecter ends up in an ad on a news site I was on. Much closer to what I am looking for if not dead on. If it was black I might be reaching for my wallet right now.

The coolness factor is worth the struggle.
