I need some pedal board suggestions.

My pedal board is one piece of equipment I have stuck with for years and years! I have been frustrated with my layout for years and years too!! My board was homemade by some dude in Michigan. I want something now that has a small riser for pedals that I don't frequently use. Also I want one where I can hide my Pedal Power II where it doesn't take up prime real estate like it currently does. Next I want it to be highly configurable. I am notorious for moving pedals around and adding and taking things away. In a perfect world this board would have a way to neatly stash my connecting and power cables neatly out of site too.

What would you guys suggest?

Greg

Here is a shot of my current board.
It's just flat and hard to organize and arrange IMO.

Re: I need some pedal board suggestions.

The shelf is nothing but a piece of plywood with 3 pieces of wood under it.
You could just buy a few yards of black ozite or tolex and customize it yourself.
The best glue to use is the paste glue that comes in a tub, used for laying down tile or linoleum. You have to brush it on smooth, so it has no clumps in it. Maybe you could build the shelf, then recover the entire board.

Or, if you want to spend some dough....the Trailer Trash boards that look like Blackface or Tweed are sweeet! Or NYC Pedalboards for a little less money.

Re: I need some pedal board suggestions.

I have a pedaltrain 2 board, and would definitely recommend it. It's lighter than wood, comes with either a gigbag or a hard case, comes with decent velcro and plastic ties for your pedals. It puts all of your pedals at a slight angle and not too high off the ground so that they're easy to reach and kick on/off. It's also very easy to run power and patch cables underneath the steel chassis. There is plenty of room on the board too:

EDIT - that's just a pic that I grabbed from their website, not my board (mine has a lot more boss pedals!)

Re: I need some pedal board suggestions.

^^^^ Do you have any pics f the underside of yours? A buddy of mine has a Pedal Train and it is HUGE. It's almost too huge. It's bigger than either of my amps!!!

Re: I need some pedal board suggestions.

You're crazy as hell bro...your board has changed a half dozen times since I've known you!

Anyway...get a NYC Pedal Board...they are much lower profile than the board you have right now, they can be had with a top shelf that you decide the siez of, they are PERFECT for putting a PP2+ under the shelf, they are a LOT lighter than your board plus they are priced VERY reasonable IMO and are VERY well made!

Re: I need some pedal board suggestions.

Christian,
I am talking about the actual piece of plywood that everything is strapped to. I do mix it up a good bit that's why i hate mine. i am out of configuration options.

BTW you coming over today to check out the Tweed???

Re: I need some pedal board suggestions.

I built a board once that was essentially a box. I had a removable lid, and on the inside, I placed a piece of 1x2" along the back wall.

Then I placed a 1/4" piece of plywood inside the box. The 1x2 elevated the back to give me an inclined board. I stapled a couple of pieces of string to be able to lift out the board/shelf, and I stored cables, etc underneath.

Re: I need some pedal board suggestions.

I stand corrected guys...Greg is right, he has had the same hunk of wood for a pedal board since I've known hin...that and his cord and strap have remained the same...everything else however has been a revolving door!

Re: I need some pedal board suggestions.

if you can do without the riser thing and just use a new layout....

Kevin at pumaboards just finished up my custom board and sent me some pics. it's like no other he's ever done thanks to my crazy idea and material i sent him to use LOL. anyway, he's been great to deal with and even without the board in my hands yet i can 100% say to go with him. from all the reviews i read i was sold on his stuff even over trailer trash and i saved some cash over the trailer boards too which is great. i also got a 100% custom board in my 1 off material on top of all that. mine has a mount under it for m PP2 and a side socket to plug into the wall and 3 locking neutrik jacks on the side for the main amp input (out of the pedals) and 2 for the the loop. he has several size boards so i'm sure he'll have something to fit your needs and he can certainly make a board look cool with racing stripes and such.

I don't have any pics offhand, but I can give you dimentions: My board is one of the medium size ones (pedaltrain has three sizes, jr., pedaltrain 2, and pedaltrain pro) and it's 24 X 12.5 inches.
