I never get tired of the Distortion/JB combo!

Once again, I end up falling back on the Distortion/JB combo! I bought a Jackson Dinky DXMG and it came with the EMG-HZ p-ups. They were ok sounding, but were a little too mushy for me. So I ended up getting another Distortion for the bridge and a JB for the neck. The guitar sounds killer as expected. I also have this combination in my R8 Les Paul...but both p-ups are from the mid 80's wound by MJ and are zebra to boot!!! I wish I could just get rid of the "Seymour Duncan" written on the coils. Not that I am not proud that they are SD, it just looks stupid with the name facing different ways, besides the entire guitar is black and would look more sleek without the name.:smokin:

You can try removing the logo many different ways, but all of them work that I have tried. I tried toothpaste rubbing it back and forth till it disappears. Also tried using Meguire's Scratch X fine scratch and swirl remover and that works flawlessly and not leaving any "ghost" of the old logo, or doesn't leave scratch marks like if you used a green scotchbrite pad or *shudders* sandpaper or steel wool. I have heard lighter fluid works as well as nail polish remover but if you leave the nail polish remover on too long and dont rinse it, it can melt the plastic bobbin. Not sure if that is true first hand as I never tired that route, but I have read there are dangers of that happening.

and be careful with the nail polish touching the finish of the guitar. it will drift the paint as the makeup of a crying virgin bride.

Didn't they start stamping the logo until the early 90's?

I used micro mesh on my Custom Custom. Actually I used acetone, but it started to melt the p-up bobbin....so I had to use micro mesh to get it smooth again. :smack:

Only on Nitro, no danger on a Jackson Import... but nail polish isn´t exactly an energy Drink for the bobbins....:rolleyes:

Brasso, other metal polish or toothpaste, Cola on a rag supposedly does an unbelievable job as well (it DOES polish chrome well, so who knows... I´m not trying it) ;)
