My main one is Dunlop straplocks. For a while I was good about shielding all my axes' control cavities with copper tape, but the last two I've bought don't have them. Pickups are as needed and as funds allow, as are electronics upgrades like better pots/caps etc.

The nice thing with the Schallers on everything is that the straps are interchangeable in an instant.

The only 'mod' every guitar gets is a proper set up: correct the intonation on each string (as much as bridge will allow), adjust neck relief, string height, etc. (not necessarily in that order)

I prefer to have Graph Tech string saddles (though not necessarily nuts) in all my guitars.

I don't like what you mentioned. I had Schallers and they squeaked like crazy when moving around. A bit heavy, too.

I use a stash of very large strap buttons I bought many years ago and leather straps. Never ever had an "incident".

I use washers or quarters with a hole drilled through them as straplocks. Cheap, easy, and discreet.

Cold Rolled Steel or bell brass bridges and trems.Ideally locking tuners on most.

I'm not crazy about strap locks either... just can't seem to get used to them. I've got these on my regular players, though, and they've worked out well for me!

Also, Splits on humbuckers are essential to me. The only guitar I have without split HBs is "Rachel." But it's only because she's got stock 2-conductor leads. I don't like the pups enough to dive into the work of splitting them myself, so I plan to just upgrade when I can justify the money with Mrs. BriGuy!

I make them kinda grime-y, the shine reduces, fretboard gets clagged up with whatever that stuff is, hardware gets dust and li'l hairs in it, screws in the sweat zone get rusty. I do these mods myself (over a long period of years) because I can't afford to have it done by a luthier.

This thread reminds me of that dude who had two dozen RG520s, all loaded with EMGs. I don't do bulk mods like that.

Wow... talk about lacking variety!

It seems that most of us feel the same way... it's probably why the only consistent answer being given is "strap locks." Every guitar is different and we find ourselves having different "relationships" with each one. Some need a lot of help and imagination while others are great without any modifications. They also are designed for so many different roles, it would be difficult to come up with one mod for everything.

Besides, who wants a collection of virtually identical guitars?

Thanks! I make it a point to make threads like these, and truly, they're mostly for my own elucidation. It's not some SD data collection ploy, though it is true that the more we know about what our customers like, the better we can serve them with new products.

I put Dunlop Strap Locks on the guitars I play the most, except for my Jackson DK2S which had Schaller Locks on it when I bought it. And all of my electrics have Dean Markley Blue Steel strings on them.
