The JSX is really cool. The gain channel was insane amounts of gain for me but it was really easy to get liquid sustain and it was pretty smooth.
The clean channel was really flexible and I hear it was designed for pedals.
But the JVM sounds, to me, the best for metal while having the look, feel, and sound of marshall. And it sounds amazing down to almost a whisper so if you're not running it wide open all the time, well it was made to sound good without that but sounds better with it. It has that liquidy sustain as well.
edit: also about the AVT I think they did... OK for what it was and the time it was made, and you know the sound of solid state/hybrid amps, they get fizzy, the fizz sounds harsher than tube fizz, and they lack a certain punch and interaction between the amp and the speaker.
Tube amps are better for me in about every way but that doesn't make the AVT automatically crap.
