I know, right? "Dude I put an Invader in my Ibanez with a Floyd dude and through my Line 6 Spider I totally rulz Angus's tonez."

Seriously, any PAF style pickup through an EL34 amp or a tube amp with a decent overdrive pedal set medium to low can get in the ball park of the AC/DC tone. If you want to get uber accurate then buy stuff closer to his rig. If the OP or anyone else wants some really accurate pickups, I would pick the Custom Shop High Voltage set, just because I know how good MJ is. I have never been disappointed in any pickup I've ordered through the years from MJ or the Custom Shop. If you just call or email MJ and tell her what you want, she will nail it 99 out of 100 times. And on the off chance you don't love what you get, she/they will redo it until your happy.

If off the shelf pickups are wanted, I still say the 59's or maybe WLH would be great choices.

IMHO low-med output humbuckers, less gain than you imagined and some insane VOLUME.

Saw them in '09, best show ever and Angus was freaking LOUD.

Any '60's-'70's-ish Gibson-style humbucker will do it. Don't go high in output. It's really all about sending a relatively clean signal into a cooking amp, and using the right hand to get your compression...and a lot of it is also having a badass mother****ing rock of a player on the other guitar, so you can screw around out front. You can get the perfect Angus tone, but it won't go very far without the Malcolm tone holding it up.

Get an Orange Tiny Terror and crank the volume with low gain. That’ll get you closer than any pickup

Re: I want my SG to sound like AC/DC

I'm using either a DSL100, or a Laney AOR 50, or a Randall RM100LB with many Marshall flavored modules. I get a great AC/DC tone with my BB1&2 loaded CR8, but I want one of my SG's to sound that way too.

So I'm going to pull the 490R/498T out of my black SG, and load it with something PAFish, and I'm thinking an Alnico II magnet in both pickups. I like the big bass of an A5 (thinking For Those About to Rock), but I'd think an A5 would be a little piercing on the highs. I want the sweet highs that an A2 has.

So far a BB1&2 set or a Pearly Gates set are on the list.
